Lorac Lip Polish Review and Swatches
I’m probably totally dating myself here, I hate when I do that, but I remember the first time I experienced Lorac Lip Polish. It was a few years back, I’m saying 8 years maybe 9. They had a gift set that was called Star something? And it included a single Lip Polish and a Lorac Cheek Stain. Now I got my hands on it and was excited as all hecks but was pretty disappointed after trying it out. Note to self, Lorac Cheek Stain, not good. Turns out I was far from impressed with the entire kit, no good.
So…
I hit up the Lorac VIP sale and took note the Lorac Lip Polish were on sale for $4.99 and I thought well hey there I can try you again at that price. I proceeded to plop one in my cart…soon after I ended up ordering four more!
Jump!
I think they changed the formula on these bad boys or I’m under the illusion they are so great because I only paid $5 bucks for ’em. Here’s the deal…some shades stink as they apply really patchy and awful but some shades are brilliance and the price can’t be beat, particularly for the nice stocking stuffer or two.
Each gloss is packaged in a bottle shaped like a nail polish, heck even the applicator mimics a nail polish brush. They are all pretty pigmented so you can easily get away without lipstick or stain prior to use. Some are glossy with a faint shimmer, some are subtle, some loud, some have a metallic finish, and others apply awful…it all depends on which shades you get. Out of the five I only ended up with one crummy shade which was Bliss, it’s really difficult to apply, way too frosty, with tons of metallic going on, and just weird. Aside from Bliss the others were quite nice.
Ones to haul for shiz:
- Groovy Fruit
- Sizzle
Nice to have ’em:
- Delicious
- Kiss
Avoid at all costs:
- Bliss
Groovy Fruit and Sizzle are truly the nicest of the bunch and also apply the best. Groovy Fruit is this combination coral, pink, strawberry gorgeousness that goes on sheer and subtle for a nice peachy pout. Sizzle is the one to have for the season as it’s a nice berry red with gold shimmer, Hello Holiday party!
Both Kiss and Delicious are nice ones as well but not MUST haves. Kiss is a rosy mauve with shimmer, somewhat metallic finish in my opinion and Delicious is pretty much mauve with a heavy purple feel but nothing crazy, quite a nice finish really and also somewhat metallic.
Lastly was the Bliss which is taupe and terrible. It applies patchy and has a frosty crazy finish that would do Twiggy proud. I’d avoid it unless you really like shades like this.
Overall, they aren’t my can’t live without gloss but I like them particularly because the price is so wonderfully friendly. Actually I’d haul Sizzle and Groovy Fruit at regular price as they are both keepers. If you’re looking for an inexpensive find, Lorac Lip Polish brings it.
