L’Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Color Crystal Eyeliner Review and Swatches

Along with the recent release of the L’Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Crystal Shadow Duos I recently reviewed, a brand new collection of liners were introduced.

L'Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Color Crystal Eyeliner 1

Jump ahead to hear about them!

First off these are a whooping $9.99 each….9..9..9…as in 10 bucks. Dude, whoa. Honestly, that’s a bit much for a drugstore eyeliner, ouchie. No worries, worthy of your buckage, promise.

From what I’ve seen three colors of L’Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Color Crystal Eyeliner have been released, which stinks as they are awesome. Here’s the deal I only hauled one like an idiot because at first glance they reminded me a bit too much of L’Oreal HIP Color Chrome Eyeliners. They had three shades, two of which looked similar to shades from the chrome releases, one was a silver and one a purple. Honestly, having the chrome version already I didn’t think I needed the silver nor the purple. Wrong, I need them.

Here’s the deal.

Where as the Chrome sport a metallic, liquid metal finish, these sport a sequin finish. Doesn’t really sound all that different in my humblest but one swatch and I was in lust. The shade I got was Bronze Shimmer and it’s a lovely brown but the kicker is the slightly golden sparkle that comes out in the shade. It really does have a sparkly, sequin finish. So indeed they are quite different from the chrome liners. I may have to haul butt back and get the purple and silver.

Comparable in formula to Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners, if not better, they are creamy, dreamy, and beautifully easy to use and blend out if you so desire. The formula simply melts across the lash line and leaves behind a smooth, even finish with plenty of pigment and just a touch of shimmer.

Gorgeous.

If you hauled the chromes and loved ‘em, I highly suggest snagging the new L’Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Color Crystal Eyeliner, you won’t wanna miss ‘em.

My only rant? Why three shades? Why not match up shades to go along with the Crystal Shadow Duos?

Aside from that, loves ‘em! Muse Approval for purchase.

Have you hauled any?

Let me know what you think!

That looks gorgeous! I’ve tried two of the L’Oreal HIP chrome pencils (blue and silver) and feel that they are superior to Urban Decay’s 24/7 pencils. I do love Urban Decay’s color selection, the 24/7’s are really nice pencils, but they won’t stick to my waterline, and HIP’s pencils do!

katherine awesome :-D alot of people rant that 24/7 doesn’t last on the waterline, you aren’t alone. Only diff is def the color variety, HIP needs to catch up! :-D

I always LOL at your disclaimer at the bottom of the review. I wish to have money to fling around like that and L’Oreal HiP has produced some really awesome products lately. I have no aspirations to buy expensive makeup at all!

haha Dao LOL :-D Glad you enjoy that. Agreed they are doing a very good job, L’Oreal in general is taking the cake for good Spring releases :)

I didn’t get any of the chrome eyeliners because I’m not much into the metallic look….but all I had to see was “sequin finish” and I got excited. I can’t wait to find these!

I bought two of these when I scored the shadows (Bronze shimmer and violet dazzle). I left the third one b/c I thought it was like Silver Lightening. Wrong! It has all the glory of that one but with some greyish hue. I came home to compare and decided I needed the third one. Headed to CVS or Walgreen’s in the a.m.!

rhon I wasn’t as lucky. When I got the shadows they didn’t have the liners but recently went back and liners were there w00t! Only grabbed the bronze b/c the silver and purple reminded me of the chromes…stupid…b/c turns out they are quite different and gorgeous. Now I went back and sold out. OMG! Hate myself for not getting them!

Okay, I’m officially in semi-make-up heaven. I have all three and yes they are all different. Got the last one at Ulta’s b2g2f. I guess I can live with myself for another day or until something else comes along.

since you mentioned the hip line is being discontinued, I bought the silver crystal liner today and it was like BAM! it was like i’d foiled my eye with opaque silver glitter – more intense than i’d expected but it was unique and i’m so glad i read your rec!

I found the violet one last Monday purely by accident. Walgreens had it on a display and I’m a sucker for lots of color, so I bought it along with the purple crystal eyeshadows and OMG!! I love them both so much!!! The eyeliner practically melts in place and looks amazing. And it looks just as fresh at the end of the day as it does in the morning. My only complaint is that they don’t have one in green!!
