Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick Review, Swatches, Photos
As you know the new Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick was available as a special preview at select retailers online recently.
The official line up is in stores December 6th and will feature 44 shades of this new lipstick which sports a formula that not only cover lips in luxurious color but also treats them so youll notice smoother, gorgeous lips in as little as 7 days.
I’ve used one a few days here are my thoughts….
44 Shades of a new lipstick line that Covergirl will be releasing early December 2010 with a formula that gives lips a more hydrated, smoother appearance within 7 days.
Now Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick pretty much covers a wide spectrum of color and in some ways you can compare Covergirl’s Collection to this idea however this particular lipstick is a treatment lipstick of sorts that promises a smoother lip look within a few days. Does it work? I’m not sure. After wearing it a few days I can’t say my lips look any smoother in all honestly however when it’s on my lips feel smoother if that counts for anything.
I think Lip Perfection Lipstick, if they get the color selection spot on, can easily become a go to for many who have tolerated Color Sensational for so long. I personally tolerate Color Sensational from time to time because they have some VERY tempting shades however the formula isn’t that great and the taste is awful. Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick? None of these problems.
For something that promises softer lips in the long run the formula is a ickle disappointing since it doesn’t have an incredibly moisturizing formula. It doesn’t have that beautiful wet, moist feel however it does have a good, solid glide. The color glides on very well and has a really incredibly lightweight formula. For something so pigmented I was surprised it wore so weightless. Drugstore lipstick that’s pigmented normally feels very heavy on or has a really bad application with a bit of tugging and fussing involved, Covergirl’s did not.
I tried the shade Classic Red which is such an odd name considering it’s not really all that red at all. It comes across rather warm reddish on my lips leaning towards a bit of maroon and a bit of brown and a bit of warmer red. Classic Red? Nay. Pretty? Yay. Nice shade overall and definitely suitable for my skin tone.
It has a faint vanilla taste which thankfully isn’t gross or bitter. Packaging is a simple yet nice affair that features a metallic-like case, bit flimsy, no weight behind it, but nice regardless.
Couldn’t help but wish this was more moisturizing. I expected a really shiny finish however it comes across more creamy. I guess I automatically assumed the whole smoother lip look would mean a hydrating lipstick.
- Anyone who wants a lightweight lipstick with full color payoff!
- Those seeking a good budget lipstick with a wide range of colors to choose from.
- Anyone who wants a smooth, flawless lip look (this has one of those “wrapping” formula that engulfs lips and makes them look very smooth and gorgeous).
- Anyone seeking a moisturizing, shiny lipstick.
It’s a very good lipstick but I’m not particularly excited about the formula and probably wouldn’t indulge in another but you can chalk that up to my snotty high end personality talking. For those on a budget that already like Maybelline Color Sensational but want something more, I think Covergirl Lip Perfection might have what you seek.
As for smoother lips?
I’ll have to use it a bit longer before I decide!
