Too Faced Beauty Balm Review, Swatches, Photos

By Isabella Muse on November 11, 2010 23 Comments

in Lip Balm, Swatches, Too Faced

Although I’m freakish about using fingers to apply lip balm I am completely in love with Too Faced Beauty Balm at the moment. Gorgeous stuff! But…problem…it comes in a tin and you need to apply with fingers, ugh so frustrating but I’ll put it aside since the formula rocks my world.

Check it!

A decadently thick lip balm in fruity flavors!

I picked these up on a whim when ordering some of the Too Faced Holiday Collection for 2010. They are tucked away in the Vintage Section on Too Faced’s site so you have the dig around to locate them. They came out a few years ago and I actually remember lemming them but being rather turned off by the pot packaging.

Boy was I ever wrong to skip them!

I purchased Grapefruit and Watermelon recently and absolutely adore them. The formula is thick, ooey, gooey, and luscious. It resembles Vaseline and I guess it feels like it too on first application but as you apply the formula begins to melt down and wraps lips in a super thick, gorgeous layer of gloss that hydrates, moisturizes, and leaves behind a subtle kiss of color. The product starts off a balm but morphs into a decadent lipgloss as it warms up!

Waikiki Watermelon obviously tastes and smells like watermelon and is a softer shade of pale pink, kinda gives a MLBB (my lips but better) look when worn alone. Girly Grapefruit, again, obviously tastes like grapefruit and tinges lips a soft, subtle shade of baby pink.

Noting bad here aside from the pot packaging and the need for finger application grrr!

  • Anyone who wants a thick, gooey, gorgeous lip balm that acts as a gloss leaving behind a glossy, hydrated finish!
  • Anyone who loves lip balms with a decadent formula!
  • Anyone who loves a good deal ($11 bucks gets you a large pot).

  • Germ-a-phobes (I can relate but try to put it behind you as you’ll miss out on a great product)
  • Anyone sensitive to flavored or fragranced lip products (these have strong, sweet smells).

Absolutely adored this and I can’t believe it took me this long to try it, how sad! I easily put aside my OCD good nature and dug right into these pots! I absolutely adored how they started out a balm and ended up looking, feeling, and wearing like a lipgloss. The formula is thick but it wears comfortable and quite long. It’s the perfect treat for dry lips in the colder weather!

Loves it!

I actually like lip products in tins sometimes lol. They’re easier to use a lip brush with 😀 Sigma and Sephora sells travel lip brushes that have caps so you could actually put the product on at home and just toss the brush in your bag for touch ups throughout the day 😀

Ah well hmm… How about using hand sanitizer before dipping your finger in lol :D? My friend Kat does that when she puts on concealer cause she likes to blend it in with her fingers lol

Hmmm looks very interesting… a lipbalm that morphs into a lipgloss?! I’m a little confused but intrigued too haha. can you do some sort of giant post that features all the lip balms in pots? Like Rosebuld salve, sleek pout polish, mac tinted lip conditioner, etc? You seem to super love all of them so I don’t know which one to indulge in!! (or I suppose I could get them all, it is holiday season anyway….)

Hi Anna. The formula starts out really thick and gooey on lips but it warms up and proceeds to thin out and feel glossy like a lipgloss. Hope this helps. I really don’t have the time at the moment to round up lip balms in pots since I’m so busy trying to get Holiday reviews up and live. But maybe after the Holidays 🙂 I’ve reviewed all these products in past posts so you can always go back and take a look and compare them until I have time to do a post about them all as requested ;D!

Oh I love these! I liked it better when they were called Bunny Balm, not that they weren’t different but I just love rabbits. :p But be careful about leaving them in the heat like your car in the summer or they will melt! I’ve ruined one before because of that…sigh.

I’ve got one and it feels and looks awesome…except it’s the worst color ever for me! I think it was called “berry” but it’s just dark purple and that is NOT a color someone pale and kind of warm toned can pull off well. 🙁
