Lola Masquerade Foundation Review, Swatches, Photos
The appeal of Lola Masquerade Foundation can probably be left unspoken by me. Gorgeous packaging right? Glass, vintage style jar….Mmm, yes I don’t think I need to say much here.
But there’s also the fact that Lola dubs it a trip to the “fountain of youth”, do you think that trip includes Captain Jack as your wing man? I sure as hell hope so at $45 a jar.
Supposedly the formula contains revolutionary Chinese medicinal ingredients that help restore your skin to a more youthful appearance. I’m honestly not sure about all that after using it for a few weeks however I can tell you about the formula….
Jump!
A skin rejuvenating, full coverage foundation from Lola!
At first glance part of the main appeal of the foundation is the gorgeous, generously sized glass jar this comes in. Yes, not entirely practical when it comes to housing a base product in a glass jar (helllllllo bathroom floor drama!) but gorgeous none the less. The spiral jar is just a really pretty, overall presentation for the foundation and really feeds into the illusion that you’re indeed going to get flawless coverage when using this….
Well…it starts off kinda bad as mine arrived separated and oily and just…well see the picture you’ll get the point. After mixing the foundation I was quite happy as it formed a nice creamy texture! Yay! I didn’t use it directly after my mix and proceeded to leave it alone until the next morning when………
Again, it had separated into an oily mess. Not cool!
Once you have it mixed correctly without a doubt it feels amazing. It has a soft, creamy texture that blends onto skin seamlessly. You get a spatula for application, mixing, etc…so you aren’t left to digging in with your fingers (mmm the anal chicas among us like me def do not relish the idea of digging in with fingers!).
I wish I can say that it proceeded to create a great canvas for makeup. Sadly, it did not. It has a creamy feel which dry skin users will adore however coverage is a tad on the lighter side since the foundation tends to absorbs very quickly and therefore disappear within seconds of use. Building up is possible however the shade I choose, Act III, had a whole heap of beige going on therefore making my skin look dull, dank, and less than lively.
I’d say it does veer towards being quite pigmented however it absorbs so very quickly due to the creamy nature of the formula that you’re not really getting full coverage in the least and honestly, more like, barely there coverage.
Although the size is VERY generous the price tag mimics that larger size at $45. I probably wouldn’t mind dishing out near $50 bucks for this as you can easily see a year or more use out of such a large jar however the formula ends up not living up to such a higher cost.
- Perhaps if you like lighter coverage you might be on board (I normally use a very small dab when it comes to foundations however even this was a bit too LIGHT for me to love).
- Anyone expecting full coverage.
- Anyone un-used to splurging near $50 on a base product.
- Anyone expecting flawless skin!
The product sounds dreamy but sadly doesn’t live up to my expectations for a good foundation. I depend on foundation to make my dull skin brighter and more lively however this just made it look older and dank. The formula may be a fluke as it does separate very easily as if I got an older jar however I read a few other reviews that have claimed the same. Sadly, Lola Masquerade Foundation brings the pretty packaging but little else.
Anyone try it?
