Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss Review, Swatches, Photos

Bobbi goes bare for Summer with her new Almost Bare Collection. This a small release that concentrates on lightweight coverage (Bobbi’s new TM’s!), a bit of bronzer, and a sheer, sparkling lip.

I can’t think of a single artist who does the bare, minimal makeup as well as Bobbi Brown.

Let’s take a peek at the new, limited edition Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Lip Gloss included with this collection!

A light-catching shimmering lipgloss with lasting, non-sticky shine.

Enjoy the larger size here as each of these is .24 oz for $22 each versus Bobbi’s regular line of gloss at the same price at a smaller size of .14 oz.

Loves the savings Bobbi!

The glosses are made with fine pearls and clear pigments that have a light-catching shimmery effect. It’s interesting as they apply almost frosty at first but later have a fine hint of shimmer that’s quite pretty without being too overdone. They are a drier gloss so don’t expect a super glossy formula however they wear comfortably light and lack major tackiness or stick. Formula seems to hold out well on my lips and I can get 4 hours out of them on bare lips and about 5 hours with a stain or lipstick under them.

Speaking of which…

I tried all three shades but the colors prove very subtle with zero pigmentation so they are best suited to wearing with a lipstick or a stain in my opinion for added color.

Their available in the following shades:

  • Bellini (Light nude pink with pearl)
  • Citrus (Bright coral with pearl)
  • Pink Tulle (Hot pink with pearl)

Out of the three I really loved Pink Tulle and Citrus. Bellini proved a tad too frosty on my lips.

The lack of pigmentation makes me a little sad as in the tube they look lovely however don’t expect to see the same finish as the tube.

  • Those who love sparkling lips!
  • Those looking for a perfect overcoat for their fav lip stain or lipstick.

  • Those who are looking for a pigmented, sparkly gloss (these apply very subtly).

I admit I was disappointed they all looked the same to me on my lips so I’m not sure you need to indulge in more than one shade here. However, the formula proved a pleasure to work with and will be ideal as an overcoat for my favorite lipstain. They have a very comfortable wear and still remain long wearing without the tackiness and stickiness that holds gloss in place. The larger size is a true value as Bobbi’s gloss range is normally considerably smaller. You won’t need all three but grab one for perfectly nude, shimmering lips or as the perfect topper for your fav lip products…!

Very pretty 🙂 Citrus looks lovely, I won’t be picking these up though as you may know by now I am not too interested in super shimmery glosses right this moment xD

just my opinion but i think laura mercier does the “bare, minimal makeup” a million times better than bobbi brown. nothing of hers has ever called my name
