Vera Wang Lovestruck Review
Leighton Meester is heading up the new promo for Vera Wang Lovestruck. Lovestruck is Vera’s interpretation of love, playing off of a modern twist of Romeo and Juliet and the emotion and rush you feel when you are falling in love! That heart pounding, spontaneous feeling.
I’ll tell you two things that got my heart pounding…the amazing bottle and the fact that Gossip Girl returns soon!
But about Lovestruck’s bottle…
Jump!
Lovestruck unintentionally gives me vibes of Gothic Lolitas thanks to the huge bouquet of aubergine flowers and gauzy ribbon on the top. Unlike it’s romantic theme the packaging is edgy, a bit goth-y, and all kinds of unique and of course, the most important part, the bottle evokes passion and a flair for a little drama. If the outside packaging of your fragrance bottles is just important to you as the fragrance itself, Vera Wang Lovestruck takes things to a new level.
The fragrance was created by Stephen Nilsen from Givaudan in collaboration with Doreen Bollhofer with a video and print ad that features Leighton Meester, Queen B from Gossip Girl. The print ads features a modern day Romeo, top model, Tommy Dunn, wooing his Juliet from her balcony.
Like many Vera Wang fragrances this is a richer, musky fragrance that lacks any real sweetness or fruitiness. It’s warm, rich, and has multiply floral layers. I’m a fruity, sweet girl myself and I find some of Vera’s fragrances can be prove overwhelming to my nose but Lovestruck starts off bolder but she dries down to a gentler finish. I find it very similar to Vera Wang’s Princess but not nearly as rich.
You do have to give the scent a chance. I find first spritz is a overly done and a bit too bold for my tastes. Let it dry down slowly and you’ll start to enjoy it.
Although the scent has guava my nose refused to acknowledge it due to the heavier layers of tuberose which plays a dominate role in the fragrance as well as the woody musky finish. Lotus blossom is the backdrop of the fragrance and creates a soft, feminine layer as the fragrance dries down.
Overall, Vera Wang Lovestruck provides a feminine fragrance with an edge that dries down to a soft floral finish. If you prefer your fragrances on the richer, darker side you’ll love this!
As for the bottle…
You’ll love it even if you don’t like the scent!
Stunning!
