PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener Review, Swatches, Photos
Brighten up tired eyes? I’m on that.
Between constant computer use at my office plus doing my blog and gaming…well, my eyes, they look tired. On top of that I’m getting to that age where I’m not always looking my freshest in the AM and I need a little helping hand to brighten my eyes up a bit and make them look wide awake and fresh,
Perhaps the new Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener is just the ticket!
Revlon is busy over extending their PhotoReady Collection for Spring. New primers, new eyeshadows, foundation, etc…are all dolled up with the PhotoReady name.
There’s even a PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener! Joy!
This one is marketed as a primer and a brightener in one. Slick it under eyes to brighten and freshen up eyes or add it to bare lids to brighten that area up as well as prime for shadow.
Rather brilliant idea and kinda a 360 degree primer slash concealer. Who doesn’t want a single product to multitask at a ton of different things right? But in many cases it never really masters a single one never mind two or three different tasks.
Sadly, Revlon does fall into the master of none here. Yes, I did so want it to the master of my eye problem universe but it turned into more of a “nice to have” product that was a bit too pricey to rave hard about.
The product is superb formula wise. It’s creamy, it’s hydrating, it blends beautifully. It’s a treat for dry, aging eyes or anyone with drier eyes. I had no issues with it creasing into finer lines or drying my already dry eyes out further. The formula is wonderful. The click style pen makes it easy to click and brush the product into place and a quick blend out with fingertips and you’re done.
The problem?
Pigmentation.
The product is a fleshy nude pink shade which probably won’t be flattering on most skin tones if it was pigmented. However, since it contains very little pigment and has a transparent finish it shouldn’t be an issue. I think they possibly had a really great product on their hands here but the lack of pigmentation prevented it from actually accomplishing the whole brightening thing.
I find the product a bit too hydrating to act as a primer since it doesn’t create a solid base for shadows to adhere to. I do see a subtle lightening up on my lids but in regards to contrasting darkness or even concealing dark circles, etc…it pretty much isn’t up for the task.
Overall, Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener got the formula down right here but sadly made a major mishap in the pigmentation department. It baffles me why they would put a product out like this as it simply feels like a low calorie eye cream rather than a brightener product. Does no one test these things prior to putting them on the market? At $9.99 it would have proved decently price had it worked but dishing out that much for a product that simply hydrates your eye a little bit without brightening things up, well, it’s a bust.
Sorry Revlon.
You had me at hydrating, creamy, and easy to blend but you lost me at pigmentation.
