Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Blush Review, Swatches, Photos
Ahhh the perfect shade of pink. It adds a youthful, innocent glow to cheeks and makes us look oh so fresh and natural doesn’t it?
Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker Blush supposedly reacts to light and your pH to create a perfect shade of glowing pink on cheeks. I don’t really buy into the “perfect shade of blush” gimmick on some of these products but I do believe in the power of undertones and that’s the best shot at how a shade of pink will appear on your face.
Let’s take a look and see if this will instantly match my skin tone!
One of the first things you’ll notice about Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Blush is the packaging. This comes in a large. chunky square compact. Like most Physicians Formula it has a dual compartment compact that features the blush on top and a stealthy little well on the bottom for the brush. It’s a little bulky for travel but I think it’s a rather nice little compact overall. It has a rather large mirror which has a tiny button on the left hand side that allows you to flick on two small little lights on either side of the compact. The lights don’t come on automatically when you open the compact and you don’t want to leave them on as they won’t shut off when you close the compact, just a warning so you don’t waste the batteries. Outside of the cute factor I’m unsure if anyone really needs a lit mirror but props for very cute packaging and I appreciate the lights as I’m a sucker for little extras in my beauty packaging.
I’ve been known to rant Physicians Formula brushes but they are improving a little bit. I had little issues with shedding on this brush and it was usable if not a bit on the scratchy side so they are showing overall improvement on their brushes.
Now the part you really want to hear about, the blush!
This a rosy shade of bright pink. The color will flatter medium, tan, and olive complexions but may prove too much for fairer skin or those with red undertones and it may prove too little for those with darker skin as it might not show up. It boasts a very nice color pay off with a formula that proves easy enough to blend although it can easily be over done so start lightly and slowly build up as you go. It has fine little shimmer particles that seem to blend out easily enough and a silky soft finish that brightens up the complexion and imparts a youthful glow on cheeks that mimics that of a natural blush or a just stepped out of the cold look. I liked the color alot but I can see how easily it can be overdone so I do have to practice some precaution during application less I get a little clown cheek action going on. The wear time will vary from skin type to skin type but on my dry skin, prepped with primer I found it wore straight through an eight hour period without fading.
Overall, I liked this one alot and think it deserves a Muse Approval. The shade won’t be for everyone as it is pretty loud and can get out of hand quickly enough if you rush application or you’re a bit heavier with your hand but with a little TLC you can get a fresh glow of pinks on cheeks. I’m not sure the entire pH level, perfect shade of me blush is working here as the color you see in the pan seemed true to the color on my cheeks but of course, realistically, it depends on your undertones to see how it will end up looking on you.
I liked it!
It’s a little pricey at $12.99 but with so many BOGO offers at the drugstore it might be worthy of a pick up particularly if you simply love cool shades of pink if not you can always go for the Natural shade they have available.
