Lunasol Three-Dimensional Eyes Natural Beige Review & Swatches
You do need a rocket scientist degree in order to apply Lunasol Three-Dimensional Eyes.
Nods, true story.
Lunasol, one of Kanebo’s more prestigious brands, introduced five palettes for Fall 2011 to their general catalog.
These palettes feature 8 graduating shades of color that add depth and dimension to eyes by playing with a light and shadow effect. The palettes are gorgeous, the application method, I personally find, a little too much.
If you indulge, I highly suggest doing your own thing during application because following the method to apply these feels like a chore and in some cases I felt like I needed to be a brain surgeon to follow the step by step diagram.
The palette is divided into four wells. Two of the shadows are solid shades where as the other two are broken up into three graduating shades of color. The graduating shades are so similar that once applied, I find they just look like the same exact colors. Contrasting with such similar colors proves a challenge.
Two main wells are used for contrasting the lid and crease of your eye with the other divided shades adding depth and definition to your look. Shades are divided in such a way you’ll be lining with the darker colors and adding definition and the lighter shades are used to highlight certain areas such as the brow bone and inner corner of the eye.
I personally find it too much and it proves a little complicated if you’re more of a basic eyeshadow user without too many tricks up your application technique sleeve.
The colors are sheer and they swatch as such however they build easily for a very natural, fresh look. I love the color selection of soft browns, creamy gold beiges, darker chocolate, and champagne beige. It’s a selection of shades that natural eye look lovers can rejoice in. Aging eyes will also enjoy how these shades brighten the eye area up without accentuating problem areas such as finer lines.
The formula of the shades is very silky but there is a minimal amount of shimmery fall out during application so a little clean up is required as the sparkle does fall onto cheeks and face as you apply.
Lunasol Three-Dimensional Eyes in Natural Beige is a gorgeous little palette. I think application is a bit of a pain but a little imagination doesn’t hurt to create a nice little natural yet elegant look on eyes. This Lunasol Palette, like all of their palettes, is stunning.
Well worth a pick up.
It’s a bit much to shell out but it’s well worth the price if you enjoy softer, natural shades of elegant color for eyes.
Muse Approved for purchase.
I got my palettes directly from Japan but I do recommend purchases from Adambeauty.com as he’s quick to ship, friendly (if not a bit limited in his English), close to retail pricing, and offers fairly inexpensive airmail shipping. I am not affiliated with Adam’s shop but I’ve purchased there many times.
