Legacy 1912 Titanic Fragrance Eau de Parfum: Will Titanic Beauty Trend in April?

By Isabella Muse on March 21, 2012 9 Comments

in Fragrance, Musings of the Day, Spring Collections 2012

Titanic has absolutely drained me. I can’t watch it again, I can’t see it again, I’m tired of hearing about, I may tear out my hair if I have to see another poster about it.

No more Titanic.

k, thanks.

It was a fab movie but the madness needs to stop at some point, now is a good a time as any right?

Wrong.

QVC introduces Legacy 1912 Titanic Fragrance this month which is inspired by perfume oils developed by German-born chemist Adolphe Saalfeld. He was traveling on the Titanic in hopes of developing a new line of perfumes. He survived, but his 65 samples were lost. The samples were recovered from miles beneath the ocean’s surface, and amazingly enough still contained their extraordinary fragrance.

Do you think in April we’ll see more Titanic themed beauty?

If so will you indulge?

Tired of Titanic?

Nope, bring on more?

Do share!

I am a little tired of the titanic stuff, not so much cause it is out there, but it is glamorizing a horrific tragedy.

I think this product may be better branded as a vintage inspired fragrance rather than a titanic specific item.

Muse I couldn’t agree with you more except I never liked it, I saw it and hated it!! Last night I saw a trailer for Titanic coming out in 3D!?!? Do we really need to see Leo like an ice cube in the water stiff and sinking like a stone in 3D?? I was not a fan of the movie or it’s WRETCHED theme song…every time I hear my heart go on I want to pierce my ear drum with something really sharp!!

Back when it first came about I saw the traveling Titanic exhibit. They had a huge section of the hull that was suspended by chains over a pool with water running over it. It was of course covered in rust. The smell was like thousands of gallons of blood mixed with thousands of gallons of fish juice. Maybe that’s the base note of this absurd perfume.

that sounds crazy chloe! I actually saw me in Halifax last year, they had an incredible selection of items recovered from the ship, it was pretty fantasizing! sans the stench of blood and fish juice lol!

The story behind this fragrance is really neat. I’ll have to keep up with the reviews on it. I predict history buffs indulging in this one and fans of the movie. I wonder what the notes will be…

The maritime museum in Halifax is fantastic, and the story of the Titanic is endlessly fascinating. The movie of course was a pile of horse turds (I’m talking the 1990’s one, didn’t know there was another coming out)except for the special effects.

I’m interested in this perfume, although I expect the scents of those days are overwhelmingly floral and potent, to cover the scent of not bathing as often.
