MAC Sheen Supreme Lipglass Review & Swatches
Count me impressed with MAC’s first attempt at a click pen lipglass. I personally love click pen lipglosses as I find them easy to carry around plus I like the way they apply so I was excited about this release and I’m not disappointed. There are a few quirks to this product but overall I’m loving Sheen Supreme Lipglass and think MAC should consider adding it to their general collection.
Take a peek!
I’ve personally never seen a click pen gloss from MAC before so I believe this is their first try with the packaging style. The packaging is a chunky black tube (much like a Shadestick) with a swivel click style bottom that allows the gloss to flow into the attached brush. Be careful, I find the these flow fast so one or two clicks will get the gloss started but try to avoid clicking several times because gloss will gush out and create a mess.
On the down side each one is $19 with a size of 0.08 oz. The formula is a scaled back version of a regular Lipglass so I think the price and size are a bit much to swallow and could be potentially what makes or breaks the sale for you. Regular lipglasses are $14.50 and contain twice the product at 0.17 oz of product. Sadness. I wonder if the click packaging is what jacked the price up?
Fuji Pink and Asian Butterfly
Moon Beach and Almond Blossom
Also on the down side is the fact that they aren’t the most hygienic lip product around. Most users aren’t keen on an attached lip brush they can’t remove and clean. I typically swipe these off with a tissue after use and I generally like these on a whole but I do agree with the breeding ground they are for bacteria.
On the up side…
I like the formula a lot.
This is a lighter, lipglass formula in my opinion. It runs thicker than a typical lipglass but isn’t nearly as sticky and tacky. I think one of the things that makes Lipglass such a great formula is the stickiness since this allows the gloss to wear extra long. Sheen Supreme Lipglass lacks tack which results in a shorter wearing formula and a bit of migration and movement but not a ton and nothing noticeable, ie you aren’t looking at gloss on your chin, cheek and lower lips or anything crazy like that. I can probably get three hours in for a formula like this without eating or drinking which isn’t bad at all in my opinion.

The texture is fairly nice to my mouth although heavy. Some folks might feel like it has a bit of stickiness to it but I think it isn’t nearly as bad as a Lipglass. Lipglass has never been known for their subtly, it is the type of product that you feel on lips and know you are wearing so if you like a gloss that’s weightless with a barely there feeling, well, these won’t be your best friend.
Shades are sheer in all the ones I tried but many enhance the look of your natural lip color for a nice finish. I think they look most excellent paired with a lip stain for the best effect and vibrancy.
I just like them on a whole but overall, they prove expensive and the formula won’t be something everyone loves due to the consistency and thickness of the gloss. If you like Lipglass already I’d call this a scaled back version of the original formula. They sport the same vanilla scent and taste of a regular MAC Lipglass as well.
This one is a matter of personal preference. Some folks will love it, some folks won’t.
I happen to like it a lot and recommend trying at least one particularly if you’re a fan of Stila Lipglaze.
