Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation Review & Swatches
I typically navigate to cream foundations, they are my formula of choice so of course the new Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation instantly captured my attention.
Let’s have a look!
Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation promises a long wearing matte finish in a creamy, whipped formula. This comes housed in a heavy glass jar and set me back $10.79 at Harmons. I suspect you’ll run into higher prices at CVS, Walgreens, etc…!
It’s available in six shades at the moment but fear not, I believe this is just an introduction to the foundation and it’ll likely become part of the standard line with a wider selection of colors in the future.
The glass jar is deceiving as it does look massive but only contains 0.8 oz of product. However, as pigmented as this is, you’ll find it’ll last a long, long time since a little goes a rather long way. The product has excellent pigmentation for sheer to medium coverage.
I love the rich, thick creamy texture of the foundation and enjoy how easily it glides onto skin leaving behind a satiny, smooth finish. For my drier skin it isn’t an ideal pick as the formula does have a matte finish that doesn’t do any favors for drier, patchier areas. Perhaps in the Summer, when my skin starts looking and feeling more oilier this might prove a good base option but as of now in the cooler air with drier skin, not so much.
(Shade: 250 Medium Beige)
I find it offers a nice, flawless finish with a certain air brushed look. I like almost everything about it, even the wear time proves rather forgiving with at least a four hour period before showing some fading.
The thing I don’t like is how it lays on my skin. It feels very mask-like to me and un-breathable. If you’re used to using thicker foundations like this you can probably get past it but as a person who prefers the light, subtle, natural finish of a BB Cream I felt like this was a bit suffocating. I also didn’t love how it looked in a certain light…indoors it looks soft and natural but outside you could really see I was wearing makeup and that’s not the look I’m going for when I apply foundation.
It deserves mentioning that all the shades were a rather odd beige color…even the darkest. The Medium Beige I picked up wasn’t a great fit but it seemed the closest match for me. Unfortunately, like most drugstore foundations, the shade selection does prove a fail so far, hopefully this is redeemed if and when other colors are released.
Overall, Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation is something you’re going to either really love or really dislike. I fall in the middle somewhere. The thick, creamy texture is quite luxurious but the heavier feel and look of the product wasn’t something I loved and proved a bit of a deal breaker.
This is available now at drugstores.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it if you tried it!
