Skin Food Salmon Brightening Serum Review & Swatches
Skin Food Salmon Brightening Serum is one of those products that I feel like I don’t need. I already own the Salmon Brightening Eye Cream why I need a serum as well is beyond me.
But here’s the deal…!
I’d recommend this for folks that require or want a little more moisture prior to using eye cream OR for those who want a lighter serum-like eye product to apply in the AM. You can also use it if you have oilier skin and need a lightweight eye serum rather than a highly moisturizing, richer eye cream.
I use it prior to the Salmon Brightening Eye Cream for a little added moisture. Believe me I can use all the hydration I can get.
However, it really isn’t necessary to use both and if anything at all the eye cream proves far more effective than the serum did for me.
This is a gel-like formula so I think serum probably isn’t exactly what comes to mind. It has a high water content so it absorbs super easily and has a soft, hydrating feel. It doesn’t provide intense moisture but does smooth away dryness nicely and preps skin for concealer or as I said a follow up with another eye cream.
Brightening….
Mmm that’s what we all want right? Ease dark circles right? Well, supposedly this contains arbutin to brighten dark circles. I’ve never seen the ingredient in an eye cream before. I do know it is highly effective on dark spots and brightening but it is an ingredient that needs to be used long term to see results.
After many months of using this serum I can’t honestly say it didn’t erase my dark circles or brighten. Unlike the Salmon Brightening Eye Cream I didn’t feel like my eyes looked any better or worst with use. At least with the eye cream formula I felt like my puffiness was eased slightly and my eyes looked more awake and brighter. With the serum, I can’t say I experience the same results.
Overall, I wouldn’t waste too much time with this. I like it well enough as a prep prior to applying eye cream for a little added moisture but that’s about all it really does. This doesn’t really benefit your eyes in any way, shape, or form. It won’t depuff, won’t treat finer lines, and definitely won’t, in my experience, erase your dark circles.
If anything at all indulge in the eye cream and skip this serum.
