Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream

Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream ($16) steps up the game this Spring with their weightless true to skin BB Cream or at least that’s their promise.

Pacifica leaves behind their roots of fragrance and bath and body and joins the makeup world with a new range of color cosmetics as well as skincare this Spring that will be available at your local Target. Their new Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream is right on trend as they jump into the beauty world.

Is it worth picking up?

Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream sounds like a dream come true! A weightless BB Cream that works to prime, perfect, and illuminate with a water based and anti-aging formula, seriously, that sounds heavenly.

Unfortunately, it’s merely a tinted moisturizer and not even that to be honest. Sad sigh. I think Pacifica really did a fantastic job with this product in regards to marketing. It’s incredibly pleasing to the eye….! And really as women (and some men too) we all want pretty packaging, pretty makeup, pretty things….The packaging is stunning! It comes in a coral box with pretty metallic flower bursts The BB Cream itself is a squeeze tube with little floral designs. If their looking to garner our attention, well, they got it. Because chances are you see it on the shelf you’re going to want to buy, want to own it.

Even the texture of the BB Cream is beautiful! Everything about it reeks “girl”! This is a creamy texture which morphs into a whipped up watery texture as you apply. It’s cool, refreshing, and has a delicate tanning lotion scent (that could be me but I swear it smells like some of tanning oil). Although it lacks the thick, creamy texture of a traditional BB Cream it still has a lovely texture that blends easily into skin and absorbs in a snap.

But there’s bad news….

It offers zero coverage. Sigh. It has a light, dewy finish and the color is a golden beige which has a tiny bit of a glow to it but once on skin you won’t notice. The coverage could be likened to a tinted moisturizer but is far sheerer than one. It doesn’t really perfect my skin but it might work well for someone who doesn’t wear foundation products.

Overall, this was a sad disappointment. It has all the key elements to being a fantastic product but when it comes to the most important aspect of all, coverage, it is sadly lacking.

Sigh.

It’s available now at Target and Target.com

Anyone try it?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

i don’t understand why the label says vegan but hyaluronic acid is an animal derived ingredient. it is specifically dereived in the umbilical cords

    • tina

by the way im not attacking you or anything, i just understand why they labled it as such 🙂

    • Kayla

Hyaluronic acid is very common in many vegan health and beauty products and well as dietary supplements that help with aging. It is found in both animal and vegan sources.. So, this product is VEGAN, assuming that pacifica is not lying about the source of their hyaluronic acid.

All the US BB’s are like tinted moisturizers. Muse, have you tried Estee Lauder’s Daywear BB??

  • Christina

I had a very similar experience with it, and was doubly sad it doesn’t offer any SPF.

  • Violet

How disappointing. I really want to check out some Pacifica’s products, even if it’s just for the gorgeous packaging! Keep the product reviews coming Muse! 😉

This sounds just like the olay one which I’ve been using as a primer or base of sorts. It’s only a few dollars more so maybe after I use up my olay one I’ll try this one. I’m sad it’s not a true “bb” cream but it might make a nice moisturizer base.

  • Jessica

Another big down side, no SPF! I wish more US BB Creams would have SPF and have SPF of at least 25/30!

    • Kris D

I’m with you Jessica. I was hoping it would have SPF protection as well.

Seriously, I’ve tried nearly every BB cream on the US market and have been disappointed by nearly all of them–the ones that were decent were priced 3x higher than a superior Korean bb cream. When it comes to bb cream, I’d rather bite the bullet and wait for overseas shipping for a great product than have the convenience of buying a crappy one at the drugstore.

I tried this and sadly must agree it’s only a lightly moisturizing tinted moisturizer. It isn’t enough coverage for me, though it does even out my skintone at least. It reminds of the first tinted moisturizer I ever had that was made by Neutrogena back in the 90’s… well, it’s a little better than that one was because that one needed a regular moisturizer underneath it, ugh, LOL! I’d rate this as just an OK tinted moisturizer… maybe someone who has normal-to-oily skin without many flaws would like this to wear at night if they want to avoid SPF flashback. Honestly, though, I’d probably repurchase this because it’s vegan, but I just really hate the fragrance… smells like cheap drugstore lipsticks used to smell (again, in the 90’s) to me.

me either…I want enough to make my face brighter and ease dullness but it does neither, but great texture…just too sheer 🙁

  • Kayla

I really like this product. It is very light and feels nice and smells nice. It does not offer a lot of coverage but I do not need a lot either. It is just right for me to even out my skin slightly and gives a great dewy look.

  • Niki

I agree with Kayla, I really like it a lot but, it does not have a lot of coverage. It luckily is enough for me though. I like that it gives me slight coverage and is very lightweight. I am a big fan of Pacifica products. Love their perfumes as well!

    • Melissa

I just bought the Indian Coconut perfume roller….I don’t know if I love it or want to eat it! really nice scent. I, too, am in love with this line.

  • Tara C

Thanks for the great review! I almost bought it, but I’m glad to have read this… I need a heavier coverage and am super pale – this looks a bit to warm for my cool porcelain skin. Thanks!

  • Tessie

Even though it’s sheer, does it even out the skin tone? I would try it if it at least did that.

  • Paige

I actually use it as a moisturizer and primer under my powder foundation. I find it gives me a beautiful natural glow. Works very well for me 🙂

  • jessica

Tried this from a glam bag I received. The product went on. Nice a smooth. But was greasy feeling even after using a finishing powder. 8 hours into it my face stared to itch and my cheeks and forehead were burning. It hurt to even wash it off. I had to put aloe on like I had a sun burn. The next morning my face is still itchy and now dry I will not be using this ever again and thank goodness I got it as a sample

  • Melissa

Hi – I’m totally new to foundations, so this was my first product (and I’m 38!). I have to say I LOVE it. I think its just the right amount of coverage for my skin tone and I love how it doesn’t even look like i have on makeup at all. I am going to use an additional moisturizer with it, as I don’t feel like its sufficient for my old age to be a standalone daytime cream. 🙂 However, I love it and I was just googling reviews to see if there was a better deal on the big bottle of it, rather than amazon.

  • Julia

I got a sample of this in my Ipsy bag, and I am so glad I didn’t buy it yet!! It has absolutely no coverage, and I look like a disco ball after applying it – it has far too much glitter in it!! >__<

  • Laura

I got this in my Ipsy bag. Ive been using it as a primer and its worked well as such, for me but you’re right. No coverage whatsoever.

  • Ashley

Looks disappointing, if it doesn’t have some sort of coverage whats the point?
