Supergoop Daily Correct CC Cream Review & Swatches
I’ve been busy exploring CC Creams lately and Supergoop Daily Correct CC Cream is one I’ve been testing out recently. CC Creams are just starting to become fairly popular in Asia this Summer and interestingly enough right here in the US as well. Considering it took the US market well over four or five years to actually release a BB Cream I find it interesting that CC Creams caught on so quickly. But hey, can’t say the US market doesn’t take an idea and RUN with it.
So far I’ve had excellent experiences with many of the Korean CC Creams I’ve reviewed and tested. I did notice that many of the CC Creams released in the US seem to be ironically a step above the BB Creams we currently have. In Asia, that’s actually reversed with CC Creams offering less coverage and here in the US ironically CC Creams offering more.
Odd how things work out.
Supergoop isn’t quite known for their beauty products but more about their variety of sunscreen/skincare options so I thought it rather interesting that they launched a CC Cream for Summer. They don’t have a BB Cream so just skipped right to the CC Cream formula.
Let’s have a look!
Supergoop Daily Correct CC Cream is a Broad Spectrum SPF 35 Sunscreen with the built in benefit of being a CC Cream. The formula comes in a self adjusting Light/Medium (swatched in this post) and Medium/Dark shade selection. Even the lighter medium shade might be too dark for those with super fair skin as it is a creamier beige shade with beige undertones. It’ll adjust well on a range of medium skin tones but I think it might not do as well on paler or fairer skin than the medium range especially if you have pink undertones. Unlike Asian brands this is not a white CC Cream that adjusts. It is a single shade of lighter medium that’s sheerer thus giving the illusion of being your perfect shade.
The formula is thick and creamy with a quick to absorb formula that offers some hydration but nothing that leaves skin too oily or greasy. It has a cool refreshing feel on my skin and has a soft, smooth dry down that’s semi-matte to the touch. Unlike a BB Cream it is meant to correct not to offer major coverage. I’d recommend it for those with fairly smooth, blemish-free skin that may suffer from minor redness, darkness, dullness, or uneven skin tone. This takes already good skin and simply makes it better by perfecting it, evening out skin tone, adding health and glow to duller skin, and minimizing the appearance of minor redness.
The formula goes a bit watery on me as I apply which makes for a very cool feeling on my skin that’s quite pleasant. I find it eases dullness nicely for me but doesn’t necessarily brighten up skin. It wears best over primer in my experience as I feel I get more of an airbrushed appearance this way. On bare skin (or with primer) it has a natural finish that looks like my skin just a bit better.
I wouldn’t say it has the correcting abilities or benefits of some of the CC Creams I tried from Asia. I feel those offer a more brightening effect which is something I desire from a CC Cream. It does however, perfect quite nicely and sets a near perfect canvas for makeup.
Unfortunately, the wear time seems shorter to me and I feel like my skin goes a little lackluster towards four hours of wear. So I do need a touch up to get a little glow back into my skin.
Overall, Supergoop is one step down from a tinted moisturizer in terms of pigmentation. It’s very sheer, subtle but still manages to do a fairly good job perfecting. If your skin is already fairly clear and smooth you’ll find products like Supergoop Daily Correct CC Cream a good way to just tip over that already great skin into the realms of perfection. The lightweight texture makes it very easy to wear for Summer as well, I just wish it contains a smidge higher of an SPF…perhaps 50?
