Make Up For Ever #102 Small Foundation Kabuki Review
Make Up For Ever #102 Small Foundation Kabuki is one of several (hundred) new brushes that Make Up For Ever launched with their new Artisan Brush Collection.
After five years in development Make Up For Ever has launched their range of Artisan Brushes which are 100% fiber brushes available in over 70 different designs for face, cheeks, eyes, and lips. These brushes are a balance of straight and wavy fibers that replicate natural hair fibers.
Let’s take a look at the Make Up For Ever #102 Small Foundation Kabuki that I’ve been testing out.
I own the Coastal Scents Large Domed Kabuki and Domed Mini Kabuki Brush and the Make Up For Ever #102 Small Foundation Kabuki quite reminds me of the smaller domed kabuki from the brand.
This is a small tapered rounded kabuki that can be used all around your face…particularly around the contours and smaller nooks and crannies like around your lips, eyes, and nose. It’s best suited for use with creams and liquid foundations and/or BB Creams and concealers. I personally like it for concealer application as the design is small enough to fit easily under my eyes and blend out concealer to an airbrushed finish. Just apply a few dots of your concealer under your eyes and buff the brush gently across those dots to blend out. I’m typically a finger girl for applying any and all face makeup and bases but occasionally I can be convinced to use a brush to do the job and this does it well. The smaller size allows for precise application and the handle fits just right between your thumb, middle, and index finger.
One of the first things I took note of with the Artisan Brush range is how soft the bristles of the brushes were. I don’t feel like the brushes have denser bristles and for the most part they are very soft and noticeably fiber. In the case of the #102 the bristles aren’t floppy even though they do have a silky feel. Another thing you’ll notice about these brushes is they are so very lightweight! The wooden handles are strong yet weightless in your hand!
For a smaller kabuki the price is a little harsh at $36…ouch!
I’ll be reviewing the rest of the brushes I’ve tested out shortly and let you know my thoughts.
The brushes are available now at Sephora, Sephora.com, and Make Up For Ever Boutiques carry the entire range!
Anyone try any of the brushes yet?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
