Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Corrector Review & Swatches
You’ll be able to get your hands on the brand new Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Correct Concealer later this month when Tarte launches their Beauty Without Boundaries Set on QVC for the September Today’s Special Value!
I kinda feel like the set is a launching pad for the new Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Corrector as it is a worldwide launch and hasn’t yet been available anywhere else. I’m a concealer junkie as you know so as soon as I heard word on this I immediately wanted to try it out.
Take a look!
Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Corrector probably shouldn’t be dubbed a concealer as it works both as a corrector and a concealer. Testimony to that would be the darker shade range that Tarte went with. Typically I hear cries of how everything Tarte does in the base world is too light. Well, BB Tinted Undereye Corrector is actually too dark.
I have no worries about this because if you like the product, want to try it, but feel the shades aren’t for you no worries because I truly believe at some point later in Spring 2014 Tarte will likely extend the shade selection on this product. Bad for now if you really crave the Tarte Beauty without Boundaries Set but good if you do want to try the corrector and just aren’t loving the shade selection.
I was originally sent the Fair to Light shade however, on QVC’s website there isn’t a Fair and a Light shade. Confusing. I’m unsure if QVC has these mislabeled and I guess we’ll have to wait until the official release to see how it plays out. As soon as I got the shade I thought it was a bit too light and peach for me. I reminded myself that the peach was excellent to diffuse dark circles though so indeed this is where the correcting aspect comes in. I ended up asking for a replacement of a darker shade and got Medium to Tan. Again, little confusing as QVC’s site lists the shades separately as either Medium or Tan. As soon as I understand the shading system I’ll get back to you…!

This comes in a tiny bamboo-like flip top compact. It’s tiny, light, and mirror-less. Inside you’ll find a creamy, emollient concealer. I’d liken the texture to a grease paint of sorts as it is extra moisturizing, thick, and quite cream. Typically emollient concealers like this have a very long wear as they adhere well under drier and oily eyes. I do think oily eyes might think the texture is a bit too much but once you set it with powder it has a very strong hold that’s waterproof and crease-proof. You might experience some tugging while blending it out so I recommend applying to the back of your hand, dipping a brush in, swirling it about a bit to warm it up and thin it out, and presto! It’ll blend easily once you’ve “worked” it up.
I was surprised it ran so sheer once I did apply. I expected the thicker texture to yield better color pay off. But again, it acts as a corrector so if you do find it a bit too subtle you might wanna follow up with concealer. I thought the Fair to Light wouldn’t work but once I mixed it with a TINY bit of the Medium to Tan the color was an ok match for me. It definitely eases some of my darker circles and it wore very strongly however, it didn’t quite give me the wide awake, fresher eye look I desire from a concealing/correcting product.
Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Corrector is a bit of a confusing product. The shade range is off, the color pay off isn’t great, and it’s questionable what exactly it works best for, concealing or correcting? The texture will likely not agree with everyone as it is heavier, emollient, and quite thick. I can’t fault the excellent wear as it has a solid eight hours of wear and over without creasing or fading but the actual coverage I question. Overall, Tarte BB Tinted Undereye Corrector quite reminds me of a newer version of Tarte Dark Circle Defense and that’s a product I didn’t really like all that much either.
Update: The QVC shades are listed for the BB Treatment that this set also comes with. So the referenced shades are as with comes with the shade you choose in your BB Cream.
This one disappointed me a bit unfortunately. I expected a far different experience from it. I imagine myself liking it a bit more if it was more pigmented and the color range suited my tone better.
