Dior Golden Snow Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Dior Golden Snow Eyeshadow Palette ($60) is one of two limited edition eyeshadow palettes released with the Dior Golden Winter Holiday 2013 Makeup Collection.
As you know I absolutely adored the Dior Golden Flower 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette which was the warmer of the two palettes so I was excited to see what adventure the Golden Snow Palette led me on.
Here are a few thoughts!
Golden Show is the cooler toned palette in this collection and features four shades of shadow as well as a single sparkly overcoat slash highlighter. I think Golden Snow definitely has a more Holiday element to it versus Golden Flower which was more of a universally flattering selection of nudes.
This palette features a cooler pink, a glittery gold, a crisp frosty white, a very cool slightly metallic taupe, and a greyish charcoal black. It could potentially sound corny but the look it creates reminds me of fresh fallen snow. The type of snow that catches on your lashes as it falls!
The taupe can be used all over your lid and contrasted with the black on the outer v and crease with the sparkly gold used as an overcoat to create a cool, frosty look. Use the cooler pink to highlight with and the frosty white to accent eyes.
Typically I find Dior Eyeshadow Palettes contain very frosty finishes and that would certainly be true for Golden Snow which has a fair bit of frost. The texture on the shades does run drier but they aren’t unworkable and they apply easily a very small amount of fall out from the chunkier, flakier consistency of the sparkling gold shade.
I do think that Golden Flower was the winner of the two shades but think Golden Snow will likely hold a strong appeal for those who adore a more smoky yet snow-y cool look! I did feel the formula was considerably better on Golden Flower as well as the shades but of course, color is always a personal choice so you might just feel Golden Snow is the right color palette for you where as I prefer Golden Flower’s! Regardless of the inconsistencies both palettes were quite well done this yet!
