Maybelline Untainted Spice Color Sensational Lipstick Review & Swatches
Maybelline Untainted Spice Color Sensational Lipstick is one of several brand new shades available in the Maybelline the Buffs Lipstick Collection for Spring 2014.
These new shades are a selection of nudes and natural colors that are meant to flatter an array of skin tones. I’ve been testing quite a few of the colors out this month and so far so good.
Let’s take a look at Untainted Spice.
Maybelline Untainted Spice Color Sensational Lipstick is a really rich raisin…so honestly, perhaps not really a nude shade right? But I can understand what they are trying to do with this shade as although it will be flattering on a range of skin tones I do believe it was created to flatter and match up with a deeper skin those fitting in with their “flesh colored lipstick” marketing.
It’s a beautiful shade and has excellent color coverage on a single application. Most Color Sensational Lipsticks aren’t lacking for pigment that’s for sure. It had a very nice creamy texture with a satin finish that was a little dry looking so I applied clear gloss on top for a better finish.
I’m noticing that the Maybelline the Buffs Collection seems to have a bit of a mix of stronger fragrance and flavored lipsticks. As I tried Maple Kiss and barely tasted or smelled anything yet Untainted Spice was a shade that had a rather strong scent and flavor. Mind you not an unpleasant one but if you’re sensitive this could be irritating.
Color lasted about five hours on me but it did have a knack for migrating a little bit during that wear so my upper lip line was decorated with color if I wasn’t careful about touching up.
This is an excellent shade for complimenting natural looks.
It’s available now at drugstores.
