NYX Dark Circle Concealer ($6) is a new orange tinted concealer/corrector that treats one of beauty’s biggest problems, dark circles.
Technically I don’t suffer from really dark circles but I do have tired looking eyes without concealer so I was quite curious about this although I never really got on with the original NYX Full Coverage Concealer Jar so I was unsure how I’d feel about the NYX Dark Circle Concealer.
Take a look!
Although available in shades as light as fair NYX Dark Circle Concealer is a product that will be most suitable for darker skin tones due to the orange pigment they use in the formula to diffuse the look of really bad dark circles. I got the Medium shade selection and it runs really, really dark and has a very heavy orange base to it which made it completely unwearable for me so keep in mind when choosing a shade that the colors are very orange. This product reminds me of DuWop Circle Block quite a bit.
It’s quite dense but once warm it does have a bit of an emollient texture going on. It actually added a more tired look to my eyes versus actually concealing or brightening anything up but again, this is due to the really hard orange in the color. If you have very black circles likely it will correct some of this as orange is excellent to diffuse their appearance. But if you expect this to do anything other than correct it will disappoint.
I think the density of the formula isn’t very pleasant to work with and means a fair bit of tugging is involved to get this on. Once applied and blended out you’ll find it sheers out considerably and isn’t terribly pigmented. It wears for about four hours before it migrates and creases into finer lines.
Overall, I’m not really impressed with this. They really should have dubbed it a corrector not a concealer. It has some correcting abilities but it won’t conceal problem areas under your eyes. I also dislike the formula on a whole, it’s just too dense for me and needs a bit more moisture and creaminess.
Unfortunately, NYX Dark Circle Concealer wasn’t for me.
Available now at Ulta and Ulta.com and launching soon at other locations.

Muse you sure that isn’t mold? It looks like there’s a layer forming at the top layer of the pot!!
it’s “sweating”, quite common with makeup…that’s not mold lol
Interesting, the more you know I guess!! I’d think that would promote bacteria growth
It kind of looks like their eyeshadow base in skintone but a bit creamier? Anyway, I use that as a corrector sometimes, since it’s quite orange for me and useless as an eyeshadow base lol
I never tried the eyeshadow base in that shade, but possibly a dupe! The formula seems quite the same as their pop just a bit more emollient, too dry though for me, I need something way more hydrating and creamy!
I know what you mean, it can tug a bit when you apply it! I usually prefer something drier for myself, since anything too creamy creases almost inmediately if I don’t set it with powder.
oily eyes nesita?! 😀 lucky you!
Hated this! Greasy, didn’t cover anything, and creased so badly. I need to review it but I don’t want to wear it again to photograph ahahah
olivia you aren’t alone, def didn’t love this 🙁
I bought the Pixy Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach RIGHT before this new NYX concealer pot came out and was sad that I had spent somuch more money on the Pixy pot. It’s a fantastic formula that I really enjoy. Reading this review makes me glad that I didn’t wait for the NYX version!!
Great post, as always.
You didn’t miss much at all Julie! 🙂 Aw thanks! glad you enjoyed it and looks like it helped a little I hope! 😀
I believe thats a corrector, not a concealer. and orange correctors are for darker skin tones.
it’s actually a concealer feefee http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/p-242-dark-circle-concealer.aspx?widget=hide&utm_expid=42976356-14.kyEd6dHrRvuCCToSmW_Xfg.1&utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nyxcosmetics.com%2Fvsearch.aspx%3FSearchTerm%3Dconcealer
That’s so odd, I actually really liked this. I seem to be about your skin tone and I got the shade light. Maybe that’s why? For me the dryness helps prevent creasing (though it still does crease in that little wrinkle under my eye. Goes to show you how different people are I guess 🙂
I’m glad it worked for you kat! 🙂
