Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion Review & Swatches
Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion is a limited edition packaged Mineral Cushion Foundation that launched with the Etude House Lock n’ Summer 2014 Collection in Korea recently.
If you already own Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion there really is no need to purchase the Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion as the formulas are the same and just the packaging is different!
Here’s some thoughts on the new packaging!
Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion comes housed in a dual lid chunky compact featuring the Lock n’ Summer emblem on the front of the compact. The compact opens to reveal a sponge with a secondary lid that covers the cushion foundation which can be snapped closed to keep it fresh. It also has a generously sized mirror for touch ups on the go. The main cushion compact does pop out so if you have another case you can pop this inside OR if you want to refill the limited edition Summer case you can, of course, do that too!
Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion has the same exact whitening, SPF50, anti-aging formula as the original Mineral Proof Any Cushion. It contains niacinamide to whiten and brighten skin and an oil absorbing formula that controls shine.
Cushion Foundations are getting a huge push in Korea and Asia and we’re seeing some of it here in the US as well lately. The basic idea of the product is a soft, squishy sponge is saturated with foundation and places in a compact. The cushion does bounce back to its original shape when you press into it. The “cushion” or sponge has a squishy, wet feel that you can either press a finger into for application (I don’t recommend it though due to bacteria) or you can press the rubber sponge it comes with into the sponge and dab gently onto your face.
This has a good deal of pigment so you can go from sheer to coverage that will easily cover up redness, acne scarring, blemishes, and darkness. I don’t really recommend it but I do find finger application is best. The formula is watery yet creamy and it feels very light on skin and blends out easily. Coverage is very natural with a semi-matte dry down. When I use it in the Winter it does cling to my drier areas but I’m considerably oily at the moment and the finish is quite smooth on my face. It does have a soft, citrus-y fresh floral fragrance that could be too strong for sensitive users. It wears for around four hours on me and I can reach five if I set with powder. The compact is a little bulky for travel and a bit large but it is easy enough to touch up with if you use the sponge that it comes with! I wouldn’t say it curbs shine and oily completely though so don’t expect it to “lock down” and mattify skin as I think the wear is a little shorter for something and the mattifying abilities not all that great for something marketed as a “Summer lock down makeup that controls oil”.
The color selection is limited to two shades. I I actually choose the darker shade, W13 Natural Beige and it was a bit too pasty for me. It likely would be ok in the Winter but I’m a bit tanned at the moment and it did look a little pasty.

Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion Swatches (Shade: Natural Beige W13)
Etude House Lock n’ Summer Precious Mineral Proof Any Cushion provides natural, lightweight coverage and gives skin a brighter, flawless finish. If you are drier just beware as it tends to creep around and cling to areas that are flaky or drier. The shade selection is a bit limited as well unfortunately so not everyone can take advantage of this!
And of course, if you have the original Mineral Any Cushion you do not need this new formula as the only thing different in my opinion is the packaging!
I got mine on ebay.com from seller F2Plus1.
