Tarte Timeless Smoothing Facial Primer

Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer is a new, permanent facial primer introduced with the Tarte Fall 2014 Makeup Collection. This is a lightweight, smoothing, wrinkle, and pore filling primer to give skin a soft, even, smooth appearance!

Take a look!

If you love Clarins Instant Smooth chances are you will absolutely adore Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer as it truly is a thing of beauty. I should start by saying I dislike silicone primers and unfortunately this is a silicone primer however, Tarte has perfected the creaminess of the texture so it goes on smooth without pilling and doesn’t feel itchy or irritating on my skin nor does it sit atop my drier areas.

It comes housed in a glass jar and apparently contains antioxidants as well as peptides. It acts to blur the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores, etc or if you happen to not have visible pores or wrinkles no problem this still gives skin a very smooth, even appearance and sets the canvas for long wearing makeup as it gives foundation something to adhere too. It has a very light fresh floral scent and a very creamy, thick texture so remember a little goes a long way. It is meant to be used under foundation so consider it the first step in makeup application. I think the texture is unique so it isn’t quite the same as Clarins formula nor is it like L’Oreal’s Magic Perfect Base and Bourjois Flower Perfection Transculent Smoothing Primer. It does however, remind me a bit of Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer but this is a bit denser and has a richer creamier consistency.

I don’t really have majorly oil skin but it does provide a nice smooth shine-free finish for several hours for me under the Summer sun. It will extend the wear of foundation for an extra hour or two as well since it creates a layer over your skin that your makeup will adhere so you won’t experience issues with foundation fading or oxidizing quickly due to oils in your skin as it’s adhering to the layer of Timeless Smoothing Primer you’ve applied. I don’t have visible pores or wrinkles but it does an excellent job creating a very smooth, even finish on my skin none the less and for the visible pores on my nose it easily blurs their appearance at the first application!

If you already use a silicone primer you’re bound to love all over Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer! It’s an excellently formulated product that does in fact give a flawless appearance.

It’s available now at Sephora, Sephora.com, Ulta, Ulta.com, and at tartecosmetics.com.

How would you compare it to Benefit’s Porefessional? Thanks!

I feel like I need this in my life lol. The formula sounds really good and I haven’t read a bad review yet

Lately in the drugstores there has been a whole slew of “instant perfectors” from garnier to L’oreal which are all silicon heavy. Do you happen to know how long/how many hours the “poreless and wrinkle free ” effect can last for? Thanks!

it’s hard to say because it’ll vary from skin type to skin type as it depends how much oily your skin is producing so I can’t tell you how long it would last for you personally, only for my own skin type if that makes sense.

I need this! I love Flower Perfection and Porefessional, though there are silicone-based primers I don’t like either. But dense and creamy sound good, especially to my “acne-cratered” super-oily skin 🙁

It definitely reminds me of the L’Oreal one you mentioned, at least from how it’s been described.

When I first saw this on Tarte’s website, I was hesitant to buy it because of the small size for the price, but after thinking about it for a couple of weeks, I decided to go ahead and purchase it. A little does go a long way and the jar should last longer than I originally thought. It really does give a smooth appearance to my skin. My makeup still looks good at the end of the day and it really does improve the look of my skin. After using it for a couple of days I did notice a couple of little red bumps, but who knows if I would have gotten them anyway. Of course, when using something new, you tend to blame the new product. I’m still using it. I just wish it was a bit creamier though. It has a firm texture. I just run a finger over the top and apply. Like Muse said, it does go on smooth without pilling. I would purchase again.

i have been using this and loving it! i feel it really gives me an airbrushed look no matter what brand foundation i use on top. I agree with you too, most silicone primers also break me out but this doesn’t
