Maybelline Baby Lips Winter Edition

It’s Winter, it’s the Holidays, red for lips is so in right now! Yes? Maybelline Spice It Up Baby Lips Lip Balm is one of a few new, limited edition shades from the Maybelline Baby Lips Winter Edition Collection for Holiday 2015.

As a child (ok, as an adult too!) I collected Lip Smackers and I think some of my obsession with Maybelline Baby Lips stems from that addiction because as soon as they release limited edition shades I’m the first one in line clamoring to buy them. They also happen to have a cult following so I try to grab up any new ones to review and swatches them on my blog (I can’t tell you what a great excuse, “for the blog”, is!).

I’m not a hardcore Baby Lips fan girl. The formula has improved considerably since their original release and it is a bit more hydrating and even more pigmented but it still isn’t quite my favorite lip balm of choice. I will say that Spice It Up Baby goes into the exception to the rule pile.

First off each of the new balms released with the Winter Collection have a different flavor and by far my fav would have to be Spice It Up. It’s kinda a spicy gumdrop bubblegum flavor. It’s unique that’s for sure as I don’t think I could compare it to any other flavor lip products I own.

The shade is a festive true red which is quite pigmented! You get a nice hint of shine, color, and flavor with this little pick. I don’t find the Baby Lips particularly hydrating but Spice It Up provides a nice bit of moisture plus I like it gives my lips a hint of shine as well. I find the textures, pigmentation, and formulas vary with the shades in the Baby Lips formula and Spice It Up is one of the better ones in my opinion.

All in all this is a nice little festively sheer red lip balm that’s nice to have for touch ups on the go!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. The shade looks pretty on you. I have to search for this online on one of the websites.

I actually never understood the hype about these. It is just lip balms. LOL! 😉

I bought this one and the cocoa. The cocoa is pretty blah, and this one, while it has a pretty color, I think the spiced gumdrop scent is too potent. (Even though I would gobble up a handful of them in 2 minutes flat if I had a bowl of them in front of me…) I think my love affair with this product is over. From here on out I’m going to tell myself no each time I’m tempted, put the $4 into a jar, and then once it piles up enough I’ll use it to buy a Lipstick Queen product instead.

that is actually the smartest thing I’ve ever heard Heidi 🙂 excellent idea! I dub it the lipstick jar!
