Laura Geller For the Love of Chocolate Set Review & Swatches

The new Laura Geller For the Love of Chocolate 7 Piece QVC Today’s Special Value for August Set is some of the best money I’ve spent this month. This set is available for $49.98. It officially debuts August 26th but it available and ready to ship as I was able to purchase it with no issues and got it shipped to me promptly!

Berries shades are playing an important role in Fall 2016 Makeup Trends and this boxed is filled with some lovely ones for lips and cheeks! It’s a set that I’d say shouldn’t be missed.

Laura Geller has done chocolate themed makeup sets in the past but this is one of my favorites to date and I did take advantage of the auto delivery option available on the set which gets you a new seasonal shade selection of the set in December and again in March 2017 for the same low price of $49.98.

The set comes in a gorgeous gift box that’s shaped like a chocolate sampler box. It even has a little top sheet that chocolate gift boxes come from. I thought the packaging was darling and also thought it would make a wonderful gift for some makeup lover. At this price, no reason you can’t do a little early Holiday shopping for your dear old makeup loving mom or auntie! The set also includes a huge get the look card that features two looks and instructions on how to do them.

There is a huge deal breaker with the For the Love Of Chocolate Set which would be the addition of Baked Balance-N-Brighten. I love my Baked Balance-N-Brighten but I don’t need another compact of it. I have far too many from past QVC Today’s Special Value Sets. But honestly, that didn’t stop me from indulging anyway because the set has many keeper products. I got Medium this time around but I’ll be switching it to Light for the next set!

One of my favorite things in this set was the Blush-n-Brighten which is a rich, shade of berry red. I was so relieved that the formula wasn’t liked the recently released Fruit Punch and and Peach Delight shades. This is the smooth, dense yet super pigmented and easy to blend formula that I know and love!

The Baked Sculpting Lipstick in Chocolate Raspberry is a gorgeous brown based raspberry pink. This pairs up beautifully and coordinates so well with not only the blush in this set but also the eyeshadows. That’s a reoccurring theme you’ll notice in this set! All the shades perfectly play off each other, except for one anyway but more on that in a bit. This formula is rich, creamy, and very pigmented with a smooth, easy glide across lips that wears for a solid five hours without migrating, feathering, or fading.

Another of my favorite items in the set was the Baked Eyeshadow Palette which includes six shades of eyeshadow. It comes in a tiny box with a ribbon pull drawer and quite reminds me of a little tiny chocolate sampler box. I love the shades here. Laura combined some very Fall-trendy colors into this tiny palette. There’s beautiful berries, plums, and nude, natural shades that work beautifully together. The matte formula is smooth, silky, and easy to apply without every being dry or chalky on application. Some shades are sheerer where as others are pigmented but all pull together to create two main looks from the get the look card provided in the set.

The only put of place item in this set was Cafe Au Lait Color Lipgloss. This is a shade that’s been previous done across a few different sets and definitely a formula I love. It’s a full color, glossy lip color with a creamy formula that applies easily and leaves lips pleasantly moist while wearing for a solid five hours without a tacky or sticky feel! The shade is a little bit of an odd pick for this set which is dominated by rich berries! I’d have loved to see a raspberry shade versus this medium pink peach.

The set also includes a retractable blush brush and an eyeshadow brush. My eyeshadow brush came bent sadly and it even after cleaning and reshaping it refused to hold its original shape! Oh well!

The Laura Geller For the Love of Chocolate Set is absolutely the perfect way to ring in the Fall season! This is a fabulous set that’s fill with Fall trendy shades that you’ll find yourself reaching for all through the season! Not to mention it is an excellent value.
