Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint Review & Swatches
Etude House Dear Darling Water Gel Tint ($5.99) a new moisturizing lip tint inspired by ice cream that released in Korean earlier this Summer. This review is pretty late coming down the line but these are still readily available online and I feel like they aren’t really a Summer lip product, you can use them any old time of the year.
These are actually inspired by that look you get when you’ve eaten ice cream or an ice pop more accurately. Every have that plumped up, dewy red lip look after eating a cherry ice pop? That’s exactly the look Dear Darling Water Gel Tint give you!
Let’s take a look!
Etude House released Dear Darling Water Gel Tint in a variety of shades and each one comes in a cute little ice pop shaped barrel with a sponge applicator to apply. Now, Etude House already has a permanent selection of water gel lip tints but this formula is a little tiny bit different and the shades are as well. I think the permanent range is a bit more pigmented and more gel-like compared to these which are a little creamier.
This formula has a jelly-like consistency that’s watery and easy to apply. I find the texture a little creamier compared to your standard line of lip tints from Korea but still very much a watery gel-like consistency. It give lips that plumped up plush look as if you’ve been eating a popsicle. The color is sheerer with a shorter wear time that does require re-application within an hour period if you wish to retain that plush, plumped up look with the hint of glossiness that these provide. Once you apply you’ll find they set quickly and the shine factor disappears as well as the plush look and it leaves you with a hint of a stain which is why reapplication is necessary should you wish to retain that glossy, plumped up look. This isn’t a big issue since reapplication is easier than say a heavier liquid lipstick or lipgloss. Color doesn’t migrate nor feather during the short wear time but as I said the shine and plush look does within 20 minutes and leaves behind a light stain. The gel tint does have a fruity flavor and fragrance that disappears quickly once applied.
It’s a pretty great product if you want a quickie lip look on the go. I tend to not reapply lipstick or even lipgloss as the day progresses but I do chronically apply lip balm. This kind of falls into that realm as it’s easy to apply and gives me light moisture, a hint of tint, and shine while I don’t want to be completely bare lipped.
