MAC Lady Danger Shadescents Perfume Review
MAC Lady Danger Perfume is one of six new fragrance that were inspired by some of MAC’s most beloved and iconic lipstick shades. Lady Danger is a passionate, seductive oriental floral that matches the bold, daring red lipstick shade of the same name.
Here’s my review on Lady Danger.
I keep hearing so many people describing this fragrance as having notes of cherry and woods and for the life of me I can’t smell the cherry. I can’t trying to smell the sweetness that everyone else gets but all I smell is a woodsy floriental with a warm spiciness.
To me this smells like soft, subtle leather. The fragrance starts out with a rather strong leather note. It may make you pull back slightly. I know when I misted it on, my nose curled up and I turned my face away for a second. I had an image of Buffy at the mall spotting that bright yellow leather jacket for the first time, “Oh it’s so lush! Wouldn’t you guys just love me in this?” Imagine walking into the store and getting hit by that harsh scent of leather? That’s sort of what this smells like first mist. You’ll need a moment for this to settle in order to experience the joys that lie beneath. I’m terribly guilty of sniffing fragrances from the bottle or misting a bit on a sample card and tossing it away without allowing the scent to develop. This is really a poor habit when it comes to shopping perfumes. Perfumes need room to breath and need to be worn a good solid hour or two before you’ll get hit with how complex and interesting they are.
MAC Lady Danger is an easy target of either sniffing from the bottle, sampling on a card, or misting into the air and being instantly revolted by it. The leathery note isn’t something that everyone will embrace right away. Moral of the story, mist it on your skin and walk around the mall before eliminating it from your wish list.
Once the initial leather note dissipates the scent makes room for a sexy tiger orchid and jasmine note that’s wrapped up tight in amber and saffron. Left on my skin long enough I start to smell more and more of the amber which begins to remind me of Histoires De Parfums This Is Not a Blue Bottle. There’s a certain darkness from patchouli but it only adds depth and body to the entirety of the fragrance. There’s a certain spiciness here and plenty of warmth but also exotic sultriness as well.
If a subtle spicy yet warm floriental is what your heart desires, I’m sure that MAC Lady Danger Shadescent will be very appealing. This is a sexy yet slightly dangerous scent that makes for a perfect evening scent.
