Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream

Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Eau de Parfum is a new Summer 2015 fragrance that launched with the Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Collection. It’s unclear to me at the moment whether Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Eau de Parfum is limited edition or if it will remain a permanent part of the Bath & Body Works Perfume Collection. I imagine it’ll be permanent but unfortunately, I’m a little iffy about that.

I applaud Bath & Body Works for introducing more perfumes lately. Recently, they did five 1 oz perfume blends for their Hawaii Collection, all of which I hauled, which I thought was an excellent addition to the release. Why? Because no matter how many times they tell me they reformulated their fragrance mist it still has poor sillage. And yes, I know, everyone tells me, “LAYER!” but I’m not a fan of Bath & Body Works Body Lotion, it’s sticky, so I don’t think it’s so unrealistic to want a fragrance mist which actually has a little bit of saying power. That’s why I do prefer their perfumes as they do have a better linger and a stronger throw for me. Honestly, I wish they had released a few of the Southern Comfort fragrances in a perfume as I’d buy them!

So indeed, right now I’m happy with the way things are going at Bath & Body Works Perfume headquarters. Keep launching the perfumes and I’ll keep buying ’em!

Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Eau de Parfum

Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Eau de Parfum is $39.50 but honestly, when are you ever going to pay retail for Bath & Body Works? At the moment they have a buy 3, Get 3 Free sale plus add in 20% off your order online using promo code S155643 and you’re getting a considerable discount. And hey, who says you have to buy three? Use the coupon to get 20% off a single fragrance! Or even using promo code S155392 to get $10 bucks off $39.50 and again, you got a deal! There are just so many generous BBW coupons around!

This comes housed in a square ombre turquoise bottle with a round ball topper. It’s a really pretty bottle and compliments the Wild Madagascar Vanilla bottle as they are the same style just differently colored. It does have a neon green rubber wrap around it which I’m not keen on as I think it cheapens the look of the bottle but you can easily remove it should you like!

Bath & Body Works markets this one as a “sexy summer blend” of cocnut water, Tahitian vanilla musk and kiwi blossom. It’s getting some raving reviews and I admit I like it, a lot but I hate to say it’s very generic to me. Sorry. I’m literally cringing as I say that because I honestly feel they put a ton of effort into the packaging and even the fragrance formula which has a great throw and linger. But…it’s just Bath & Body Works fails to create anything truly unique in fragrance and their scents all start smelling the same to me. I’m not sure what but this reminds me of some other scent that they might already have available or perhaps sometimes from the not so distant past they released.

Top Notes include Fresh Coconut Water, Sparkling Mandarin, Golden Pear, and Kiwi Blossom with middle notes of Jasmine Petals, Water Lily, and Lush Frangipani, and dry down notes of Tahitian Vanilla Musk, Skin Amber, and Australian Sandalwood. Sounds complex doesn’t it? But it isn’t. It’s just a really nice fruity floral scent. I wouldn’t say it’s tropical by any means but it feels fresh, sweet, and nice for Summer wearing. I get a lot of floral notes mixed with sweetness it kinda reminds me of a sweet pea freesia cocktail. I wish there was a bit more vanilla maybe something gourmand or even warm and creamy but this is really fruity and sweet. Again, I like it, it’s just very repetitive.

As I mentioned a few times in this review the throw is great with just two mists of the fragrance and three mists should get you through the day. They formulate some of these perfumes very well and they work great with my body chemistry and wear a lot longer than the fragrance body mist line!

I’d buy Bath & Body Works Tahiti Island Dream Eau de Parfum again! It’s a very nice perfume! I just wish it was a LITTLE more unique! I have dreams that Bath & Body Works will ditch the sweet florals and develop some gorgeous gourmands! A girl can wish.

I was disappointed in this one as I thought it would smell more like coconut or the beach. The employee at my store said it reminded her of Pure Paradise scent that came out a couple years ago (I remember not liking that one too much).

    • Isabella Muse

mmm yes! I wanted something more tropical! It’s just your typical sweet, fruity BBW scent!

  • Kim

How does this compare to the Waikiki scent? That is my current favorite BBW scent right now.

    • Grace63

@Kim the Waikiki smells very warm & Beachy but I agree with this review, it doesn’t smell as “tropical” as you’d more like an airy, fruit/flower combo, but I still love it. Nice light fragrance for summer.

I wish they still launched the little 5.00 bottles. Next time I’m in, I will give this a sniff.

it blows my mind anyone would go into bbw and pay full price for anything with all their sales and coupons lol. I REALLY like this scent 😉 The bottle is pretty. I’m also happy to see it as an EDP. I’m with you- I dislike the lotions in the rectangle bottles as well- i always smell the base stronger than the scents. I like the shea butter lotions in the tube. Oh I wish the Vanilla Burbon Strawberry from Southern was an EDP!!

    • Isabella Muse

YES YES YES! that’s one I wish was an EDP too! Such a lovely fragrance! I agree! Too many coupons to settle for full price. I don’t like the lotions, you’re right they don’t always smell strong plus they are sticky, not cool!

      • diane

Yes it is! Forgot to say I love when BBW does gourmand too. CHristmas scents- Vanilla Bean Noel! SOO GOOD

Thanks for the review. Freesia and Sweet Pea cocktail?! That’d be a NO, then. 🙂 Neither is suited for me. Have been wanting to try this one since I saw the promos. Will still likely go and *sniff* it soon (with my half-dozen coupons).

Waikiki Beach Coconut and Oahu Coconut Sunset are my favorites right now. However, they are basically A Thousand Wishes with pineapple and (not enough) coconut added in. Still looking for their REAL coconut scents from years ago to add, as you said, ACTUAL VARIETY to their tableu.

Kauai Lei Flower (and no, I am not kidding) doesn’t smell like… well, like anything. I’ve tried and tried to pick up an actual scent there… Starts out as a fresh scent and then just totally disappears. But I have a travel size lotion (my go-to for trying out BBW products) and may have just gotten a bad batch.

BBW: Can we have more ACTUAL COCONUT? More sandalwood? More lavendar? More cedar and vanilla and cinnamon? I feel like you are bathing us in cotton candy. Women are sweet, but also sultry, smoky, mystical and mysterious too. Can y’all reflect that, please?
