MAC Lightful C 2-in-1 Tint and Serum with Radiance Booster8

MAC Lightful C 2-in-1 Tint and Serum with Radiance Booster ($60) is probably one of my very favorite serum slash fluid foundation products of the moment. Yes, I said slash! That’s because MAC brings together a lightweight serum along with a tinted fluid moisturizer to treat skin and give it a perfectly flawless appearance!

For me MAC Lightful C 2-in-1 Tint and Serum with Radiance Booster is innovation at its best.

MAC Lightful C 2-in-1 Tint and Serum with Radiance Booster comes housed in a dual chamber bottle. I find this intriguing, innovative, fun, and also a little irritating. Each “bottle” holds 1 oz of product so the bottom base of the bottle unscrews to reveal a tinted serum where as the upper bottle has a pump and it contains the regular serum. I know, slightly confusing. But basically one bottle can be unscrewed into two bottles each of which holds a serum.

The dual chamber bottle is innovative, it’s also kinda fun and easy to store or travel with. But can be a little irritating at times too since I store my makeup separately from my skincare. I consider the fluid tinted serum more of a tinted moisturizer/foundation product and I’d rather it be stored with my other foundation products. But due to the packaging it’s an either/or sitation where you’re either storing it with your skincare or storing it with your makeup. Of course, MAC was smart enough to include a cap for the tinted serum so you can separate the two products if you wish. I did struggle slightly getting the tinted serum out of the bottle as I had to tip it and kinda shake it out although the regular serum does have a pump so no issues with that!

Both formulas target a good deal of skin concerns such as dark spots and uneven skin tone. The serum targets dark spots and lightens them with a brightening Vitamin C formula that evens out skin tone while providing moisture. Over time, skin is bright and more radiant while dark spots are faded out. Vitamin C is notoriously difficult to keep stable but this packaging is sealed quite well so it should remain staple. Other ingredients include cucumber and apple extract to sooth, soften, and nourish your complexion.

The tinted serum or fluid tinted moisturizer is available in five shade selections. I was recommended Medium and it fits my skin perfectly. This is a very thin, lightweight fluid that’s reminiscent of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. It falls more into the category of tinted moisturizer rather than foundation though since it is quite sheer and provides very little coverage. I’m happy with it though as I like light, barely there skin-like coverage and this is exactly what it provides. The tint brightens up skin tone, evens it out, and creates a beautifully smooth, natural look on skin. Although dubbed “tinted serum” it doesn’t feel greasy like many serum foundations I’ve tried in the past. It has a soft, smooth set that has a light hydrating feel. It’s creamy but runs very thin and fluid-like. It wears a shorter time so you might want to set with a little powder to extend the two to three hour wear time.

Both the serum and the tinted serum contain an impressive amount of antioxidants, soothing ingredients, and brightening ones. With extended use you have a fairly good chance of evening, brightening up, and fading minor dark spots on your face for a more radiant complexion. It does have a fresh subtle fragrance so just a little warning for sensitive users.

All in all I’m very happy I purchased this. At $60 it was a little expensive but I don’t regret the purchase in the least and I can easily see the tinted serum becoming a daily staple for me. I’m unsure if MAC plans to add MAC Lightful C 2-in-1 Tint and Serum with Radiance Booster to their permanent Lightful Skincare Collection. I’m hoping they do as it combines two fantastic products in one. Honestly, MAC should consider releasing both as individual products though as I’d completely be on board buying a full size of the tinted serum. However, I would hope for slightly better packaging as a pump would make distributing the fluid a little easier!

This is an excellent way to get lightweight, skin evening coverage plus allows you to treat skin and work yourself to a more flawless, radiant complexion over time!

Loves it!

do u know if the serum is the same as the lightful c marine-bright formula essence?
i’m very confused with this 2 in 1 product. if i have the tinted cream and the essence, why would i have this one? rss =P

    • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure Will I don’t have the c marine bright formula essence. This is a serum not an essence and this is a tinted fluid not a tinted cream. So they are different formulations and textures. Hope this helps?

it’s actually not so much better but combining all the elements for the best results 🙂 Essences are essentially the same but essences are lighter, you’ll likely get the benefits of both the serum/essence but the lightness of the essence might be better suited for daily use where as the serum better for night time use since it thicker/richer.

OMG I am so glad you did a review on this. I’ve been so curious and haven’t seen much talk about it! I really like the lightful c tinted moisturizer but the price on this was a little iffy for me. Thanks for your in depth review

yay glad you enjoyed the review, J! Yup, def wincing at the price slightly but I’d pay for it again when I run out. I really enjoy the combination of the two products.

Great review! I’ve been testing out the Sunday Riley Tinted Primer for an upcoming review that also claims to have skincare benefits so I’m curious to compare these two products.

I’m on that! It’s been in my review pile Tracy! I’m curious if they are both as good 😀

I actually just bought this as an impulse buy as per the sales gal at MAC. When I got home and realized the price I was like oops. But I started using it and I will say my skin already looks and feels more radiant and I don’t regret buying it at all! Thank you for the review, I really love your site!

What colour foundation from MAC do you usually use since they recommended the medium shade tint for you. I am a Nc/nw 15 with a yellow undertone and not sure if whether the light or medium is more suitable.
