The Bath & Body Works Cork & Vine Candle Conundrum
So I got my Bath & Body Works Fall Haul this week! I ordered a bunch of candles and other goodies online using their 20% off promo code because I couldn’t wait to get to a store and also because I wanted to avoid too aggressive sales peeps!
One of my top picks from the Fall 2015 Collection was the Cork & Vine Candle Collection which was a selection of wine inspired fragrances. Now these sounded positively gorgeous plus add in the fact they had a Black Cherry Merlot Candle and I was in heaven! So I got out my credit card, placed my ordered, and waited patiently for it to arrive.
And man was I disappointed!
Ok, so we all know Black Cherry Merlot smells amazing. It’s sweet, it’s juicy, it’s fruity, it reminds me of the fruit juice they used to give me in kindergarten! I guess based on that I assumed many of the Cork & Vine Candles would be as great! I expected them to smell fruity and juicy with a bit of boozy twist. And of course, I expected Black Cherry Merlot Candle to smell as amazing as the hand soap and hand cream!
Yeah, so be prepared to because Black Cherry Merlot is not the juicy, fruit cherry scent you know and love! This one and many of the others from the collection smell like a dark men’s cologne. There’s nothing really fruity about the fragrances nor sweet nor even boozy for that matter.
If you’re looking for fruity wine-ish smells than Sparkling Pear Riesling and Sundrenched Vineyard would be the best options from this collection but the rest, they do not evoke wine to me! Not that I’m expert mind you as I don’t drink
Hopefully this posts helps anyone else who’s blindly ordering online and not heading in store to make a candle purchase!
These are a sad skip for me.
