Love Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Liquid? Here’s a Cheap Dupe!

sana vs dr jart

I love Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Liquid! That’s probably no big secret as I’m constantly raving it around here. I have drier, duller skin and Dr Jart’s formula breaths crazy new life into it by hydrating it, sealing in moisture, and easing dullness courtesy all that hydration it pumps into my complexion.

But it’s a little expensive at $39 for a 5 oz bottle.

How about switching up your routine with Sana Japan Hadanomy Collagen Lotion Toner and get twice the amount for $13 bucks?

Sound good?

Now it isn’t a dupe of Dr Jart’s formula but Sana’s contains hyaluronic acid versus ceramides. But either/or seems to agree brilliantly with my skin.

I’ve reviewed Sana Japan Hadanomy Collagen Lotion Toner extensively in the past so I’ll keep this short and simple. It’s brilliant. Winter is coming, it’s getting colder, and drier skin types need all the moisture it can get and Sana’s not only hydrates but seals in moisture as well.

This is a thicker essence style gel that you apply prior to your moisturizer. It softens, smooths, adds intense moisture, and gives your skin a super hydrating boast so it looks and feels visibly smoother!

If Dr Jart’s formula is a LITTLE too rich for your taste.

I’d highly recommend checking out Sana’s formula.

I know you’ll love it.

Grab it from E-bay.com seller AlphabeautyUK (I’m not affiliated with this seller but shop from them often!).

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. That’s not a dupe then if it’s not even the same main ingredient, hyaluronic acid instead of ceramides… Raving about a product that is great is one thing, but tooting that something is a dupe and then clarifying later feels like a lie or raises alarm of sponsorship.

    • Isabella Muse

Sorry Cara. They basically offer the same hydration which is what I was referring to in the dupe portion of this post. This isn’t sponsored, both of the items in the post were purchased by me so no reason to be alarmed. I disclose any sponsored content, affiliate links, or samples etc above and below all posts I do. There’s no invisible advertisement in my posts, I’m honest and upfront about everything that appears on my site. Not here to trick you or anyone else. Hope this helps!

Thanks for commenting back. I’m afraid I might have been a bit rude by even bringing up the potential for sponsorship. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing, as long as your honest (which you do seem to be genuinely so). Anyways, I apologize and do enjoy reading your blog!

        • Isabella Muse

Hey again! Honestly, that’s about all I’m worried about Cara. Your original comment was fine, the issue was the fact you implied I was someone trying to sell something which I honestly wasn’t. I just really love both of these products 🙂 Both were purchased by me, no one paid me to write the post, I just thought it would be a nice recommendation type post. There is an affiliate in this post that’s automatically generated by a program I use call viglink but aside from that this isn’t paid or sponsored by anyone. I hope that clears things up. Hopefully you consider my thoughts, reviews, opinions, etc true and genuine. I’m not trying to trick anyone into buying it 🙂 If I love it, I say I love it and if I hate, well, I’m sure you’ve read some reviews where I ripped and ranted!!!! 🙂 And thanks I’m glad you enjoy Musings of a Muse. Don’t ever be scared to comment and say what’s on your mind!

  • Tammy

You did mention it’s not a dupe since it’s not the same formula.. Why are some people so rude? Even if they didn’t agree there’s no need to sound so mean! D:

You’re one of my fav bloggers and I love reading whatever you write <3

    • Isabella Muse

I probably have to watch how I say things, “cheap alternative” would have been a better way to go. I think I’m conditioned by the word dupe haha it’s everywhere but thank you Tammy 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoy being here and visiting! That means a lot!

    • Jackie

When I see the word “dupe,” I automatically know that that means it’s a cheaper alternative. No dupe is the exact same as the item/color/scent that it’s a dupe for, nor does it, nor can it, have the same ingredients & formula!!! I might buy Suave shampoo that’s a “dupe” of Matrix, but it doesn’t take half a brain to know it’s not the same thing, merely a cheaper alternative with nice ingredients to give the same result! Isabella, you describe things however you like.

      • Isabella Muse

I’m glad to hear you say that as that’s typically how I see dupes too!!!! 🙂 <3!

      • Cara

It’s because dupe is a short form of DUPLICATE. Often dupes are very close in formula, color, ingredients, etc. A cheaper alternative for hydration? I’m always game for that. Watching YouTube videos and reading blogs, people are careful about what they will proclaim to be a “dupe” of another product. Isabella did state in the post itself that it’s not a dupe because they don’t contain the same ingredients. The word “dupe” might not have been appropriate as a header for the content of the actual post. it’s deceiving for people legitimately looking for a cheaper alternative for ceramides (which BTW Holika Holika Skin & Good Cera Ceramide line might be a good alternative to look at).

I enjoy reading Isabella’s blogs and I apologize for my poorly worded comment. I didn’t mean to come off as rude.

        • Isabella Muse

Again, sorry for the wording Cara. In the future I’ll be sure to use something like alternative. My general idea of dupe was referencing the hydrating factor and texture not so much the ingredients, sorry for the confusion here.

    • Mags

The post is titled “Love Dr Jart’s Ceramidin Liquid? Here’s a Cheap Dupe!” So yes, “dupe” is mentioned. Going to have to agree with Cara here, I was also initially confused bc I see “dupe” as a very similarly comparable product and these two are not. I’ve been following Muse for years so dishonesty never even occurred to me but Cara raises a very good point.

      • Isabella Muse

Sorry mags, in the future I’ll be sure to use alternative vs dupe sorry for the confusion! And thanks for being a long time follower! 🙂

  • Jennifer

Super excited to try this, mostly because I just recently moved to Japan so I’m sure this will be easy for me to find! I won’t lie, I feel like I won the skincare/makeup lottery over here. I too have pretty dry skin but my skin feels transformed using the products that I have switched to since arriving here.

    • Isabella Muse

Yay!!!!!!! Have fun! and try not to spend ALL your money on beauty hehe! Japan is the mecca of awesome beauty 🙂

      • Jennifer

I’m sure it will eventually get to the point where my first instinct isn’t to RUN to the drugstore when I have any extra money, but it will take awhile :P. When I walk into one now, I feel like my eyes just turn into little hearts and I could spend hours there trying to sort through everything lol.

        • Isabella Muse

haha totally know that feeling! I’ve been to Japan twice and I literally had to ship things back and buy an extra piece of luggage on the way home (my 1st trip). Obscene! 😀

  • Libby

Girl, I totally get what you mean by dupe. No dupe is going to be 100% the same, lol. Considering the price point, especially with skincare, you pay for what you get to be honest! I love Dr. Jarts to death and the Ceramidin duo is my favorite skincare and an absolute staple so I won’t be veering away from it (although omg, I’ve been trying out the Tatcha hydration serum and……..it might be a contender but that’s even more $$$ than Ceramidin so that’s not a win there LOL). Thanks for always giving a heads up with cheaper alternatives, Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

Oh wait Tatcha hydration serum!? my ears perked up haha! They have a Black Friday sale I think so might need to try that Libby! Aw my pleasure! xoxo!

  • Linda

Muse, you’re such a nice person. You responded much more kindly than I would have! There’s no need for commenters to be so rude.

    • Isabella Muse

Oh it’s ok Linda! I appreciate everyone’s opinions/thoughts 🙂 I just don’t want to be portrayed as being dishonest or shady though! That’s about all that bothers me 🙂 But aside from that, I welcome anything anyone has to say! xoxoxo!
