Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette is a new, permanent eyeshadow palette that launched with the new Sephora exclusive Peaches & Cream Collection which contains 12 matte finish peach inspired eyeshadow shades.
Out of everything from the Peaches & Cream Collection this was the item I was most excited about checking out. You guys know I’m not much of a matte girl but I’m embracing the finish more and more nowadays. I thought the idea of all matte peachy shades sounded like a good one. And I was right! Out of the box this is a rather stunning selection of shades. They are so bold and quite rich looking.
Let’s take a look at my review, thoughts, and swatches.
Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette comes housed in a stunning, weighty compact with a generously sized mirror that’s reminiscent of the Becca X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette and Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette. The palette is completely gold with a glossy, lacquered face plate. It has an adorable dual peach clasp to open and close the palette. The names for each of the eyeshadows is printed under each shade and as promised it does have a sweet, peachy scent. I find the scent sweeter and a bit stronger compared to the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette but it doesn’t linger and I couldn’t smell it during application on my eyes. This is made in the USA.
I can’t express how much I’m loving the packaging on this entire collection. Too Faced spent a lot of time making these products look very pretty and appealing. That’s understandable as this collection is a permanent fixture at Sephora stores. I’m a visual person and I like pretty things. Therefore I like my makeup to look pretty. I think most makeup users would agree that packaging is a key selling point. Considering this is a permanent collection they want to sell it and making it visually good looking and well made will obviously sell products faster.
Most people will feel that the Just Peachy Mattes Palette is comparable to Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette but I don’t think any of these shades are exact dupes. The colors just look similiar but aren’t dupes of each. Which means you can feel confident heading into a purchase without ending up with dupes of shades you may already own.
Too Faced calls the shadow formula a comfortable matte with an intense color payoff. Their idea for the entire collection was to create an easy to apply, blend, and wear collection of mattes. Thus far, they’ve been successful as I’ve tried both the Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder and Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder and both have exceeded my expectations in terms of application and comfortable wear that wasn’t dry nor looked dry.
The formula isn’t quite as silky as I expected. I was hoping for silky, easy to apply mattes but the texture ran a little drier. These are quite dense but and not at all powdery but they aren’t as dry as the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey Eyeshadow Palette. They actually blend and apply easily but some shades needed layering to get the best color pay off. For example, Peach Punch is a stunning dark coral pink but it applied sheerer and needed to be to be built to get that exact color in the pan onto your lid.
I do believe these work best over primer as the shades have a tendency to fade easily and they adhere best to a creamier primer. This also intensifies the shades and gives them the best color pay off. On their own, some shades apply weaker and sheerer with fading within a two hour period on my drier lids. Over primer, they applied much intenser and didn’t fade as quickly.
There are quirks but this is by know means Too Faced’s worst palette. I actually liked it. A lot. It’s a good warm selection of unique colors that create some very interesting looks and it released at the perfect time as the selection of shades are quite Fall friendly.
All in all, Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette has some application and wear issues but if you’re willing to put some work into it you might find this one very enjoyable. I’m glad I purchased it and I think I’ll make a good deal of use out of it this Fall. I really like these shades.
