And P.S. Shall we discuss the Battle of Winterfell because that was some seriously long ass epic battle. You know what? Somewhere along the way I forgot that this is Game of Thrones and that the battle is for the Iron Throne. I got so caught up in The Night King and the White Walkers and Winter I forgot that technically, that isn’t really the main part of the story at all. The battle was both the longest and quickest one I’ve seen unfold on TV. Or should I say it was the longest battle but the quickest end. I mean, what was it the last 8 minutes that things actually started building up and finally exploding? So far the season has been a really slow boil! I think a lot of people expected S8 to open with a big bang but it opened with a really soft whisper. It almost feels like I’ve been watching several episodes that lead up to S8/Episode 3. It feels like it took a very, very long time to get to this epic moment. And when it did arrive it was SO disappointing. Why? Because it was SO DAMN DARK. It was really difficult to follow what actually unfolded on screen. I have a Samsung Q Series in my living room and I squinted through most of the episode. “Wait, was that Grey Worm running towards that Walker…Was that the ice dragon or the fire dragon? Is that a Walker? Oh no, that’s Sir Davos doing absolutely nothing as this sh*t unfolds!” No seriously though, WHY WAS IT SO DARK!? By the time the end first hour rolled around I wasn’t sure who died and who was alive. I actually thought Jamie and Brienne were goners. At one point both of them were covered in White Walkers and I seen them get bitten a few times or at least I think they got bitten!? I needed a little more light.

When things finally came to a head I was able to finally sit back, take a deep breath, and think about the the real battle which is just about to begin. Believe me, Cersei is worst than anything the Night King can throw at us.

What did you think of this week’s epic episode?

I am SO glad to hear you complain about how dark it was (literally, as well as figuratively)!! I couldn’t tell who was who, and what was where and all that. It would have been a LOT better if it was just a shade or two lighter! Yeah, I know it was a night battle but this is TV, and one of the fundamental things about TV is YOU. HAVE.TO.BE.ABLE.TO. SEE. IT. I’ve rewatched the episode about 4 times ( yeah, I’m nuts…) and I catch more each time, but still… Was it just me or were Jon, Dany and the dragons kind of a sideshow to the ground battle? I expected they’d be invovled more in the fighting, and I really expected to lose a lot more main characters!! Sigh… RIP Ser Jorah and Theon…. 🙂

I’m anxiously waiting to see who gets to kill Cersei and whether Jaime will survive. I’ve quite gotten to like him since the hand-lopping incident. he’s learned a lot of humility and humanity; I hope he makes it….

Um, to keep on topic, that skincare kit looks pretty sweet!! I like these little sets that sephora puts out; they’re kinda fun! 🙂

Nor I. I wear glasses to drive for distance but aside from that I have no issues with my eyes but I seriously sat there squinting. It just looked like everyone was dying at one point. Everyone was covered in White Walkers and I had a hard time finding out who was where or who died or got cut down. It was a mess. If Grey Worm didn’t have his helmet on I’d probably have a hard time finding him! At this point, I don’t even know where he is!? Walking Dead does this too lately. It’s some sort of artsy technique of filming without any light so it looks like “real darkness” but all it is is annoying. I was going to rewatch it as well if I had a sec this week because I feel I missed A LOT of stuff due to the darkness/fog overhead. I actually didn’t understand the technique they used for the dragon battle. It wasn’t truly addressed how things would go down, I guess we can’t get too technical about it going into battle strategy as the episodes would be eight hours long lol! I guess Jon and Dany were meant to defend against the ice dragon and the night king as they knew he’d be making his entrance via dragon. So, it was their job to defend the skies. But the fact Jon wasn’t in the middle of the battle was disappointing. It feels like he literally spent an hour and 20 minutes flying around in the fog and about 5 minutes trying to make his way to Bran which he failed at. I mean Jon’s such an important of the stories but this episode switched the dynamics in a major way and new power players emerged.

Theon died a hero, which I was happy about it. I wasn’t even sad he died, I was happy he got back who he was because of it. It was a good end for him. Jorah, mm not so much. His death was sort of rushed. I did cry for little lady Lyanna. she also died a hero bless her little soul. I am too! I think Sansa might be the one that puts Cersei down. Jamie has become an honorable man indeed! I was a little upset that I’m not sure where certain characters are. Grey Worm is missing as is Tormund. If/when Tormund dies the whole Internet might break lol! Haha…! Yes, skincare ;-D They are indeed. It’s a nice deal with 20 off!

This whole season has been on a slow simmer and it’s kind of disappointing. We waited for so long and there was so much build up. But, I did cheer for Arya when she took out the Night King. I guess now the real story can begin!

    • Isabella Muse

I did too. Impressive because there was a second there where it was like, ok, this is it, last two minutes of the show and everything is about to be overzzzzzzz but bam here comes Arya jumping over everyone and stabbing the night king! w00t!

Ugh. With you on the darkness. I feel like some of it was intentional, to enhance the confusion and chaos. But I think they took it too far. I have to say I’m kind of disappointed so far with this season. 2 episodes of table setting, and then nothing terribly meaningful happens. I mean RIP Jorah and Theon, but nobody really meaningful died. And why would the Night King expose himself? Can’t his zombie minions take out a kid who can’t even walk? And what was the point of all of it, really? 7.5 seasons of lead in, just for Arya to jump out of a tree or something with nothing really explained and no plot twists? I don’t know. It just feels like empty fan pandering at this point. Maybe Bran and the Night King had some telepathic exchange or something. And yeah. Jon and Dany were virtually useless. Twice now Jon has been saved by his sisters. I really hope Sansa and Arya are the last women standing. And I would love to see Jamie and Sansa together. Out of left field, I know, but I think it works. Also makeup or skincare or whatever 😛

ITA! I think that was their intention for sure. I think they wanted you to feel a sense of anxiety for the characters you love. I know I was biting my nails through it! BUT like you said, they took it a step too far because after watching it for an hour the anxiety disappeared and I started getting angry and frustrated because I didn’t know what was happening. The idea was a good one but at some point I wish the fog cleared and the darkness got lightened up a bit so I could get an idea of the fighting going on. This is true! RIP Jorah and Theon (and every single Dothraki! Took mere seconds to snuff those guys out) but they aren’t major players and the idea either would have any access to the Iron Throne never crossed my mind. I did like Theon went out a true hero and he regained some of his manhood. Mmm I think the plots twists are coming. I think this episode was a big ass reminder that, “Hey fan guys and girls this isn’t about the Night King nor the White Walkers! There’s a bigger picture here and you forgot about that picture when we introduced the Night King/Walker thing into the equation!” This was a wake up call that the Battle for Winterfell wasn’t what the real story was about. I think they’ll be tears when everything finally ends. We just got a taste of panic/anxiety! I think there’s a lot more to come. Or at least I hope there is otherwise we’re all in for a major disappointment. WTF did Bran go is the question? “You’re forgiven Theon! Buh-bye gotta go!” I’m curious. That’s a plot twist right there. Where did he warg out to? Did he get to King’s Landing to see what was up over there? Up those two were totally useless. In rolled a fog/storm and that was it for both Jon, Dany, and those dragons. They did nothing nor did Davos. Davos was all, “imma sit right here and wait for my chance to kill Melisandre” and what happens? She curls over and dies by herself LOL! justice served. Davos really did nothing in that battle. He should have just been in the crypt with the women haha…! I can see Sansa on the throne but not with Jamie! Looks like Tyrion might be her King!

I skipped past your spoilers 🙂
Thanks for the warming. It seems like a darling little set but I have noticed everything that has rose/rose hip oils in it causes me to break out. I have no idea why but I’ve done Origins, Physicians Formula and an expensive product sample from Sephora and it happens every single time. Does it agree with your skin? Otherwise it’s a good deal.

    • Isabella Muse

Oh my pleasure haha! come back when you have watched it ;-D Oh no that’s not good. I have no probs with it! Lavender sometimes makes me itchy but nothing crazy!

    • Isabella Muse

yup blame it on the tv settings LOL! They are insane! Nothing wrong with my TV set, it was DARK! lmao! She did indeed! and she’d have made a kick ass warrior in the future ;-D I kind of feel like she’s serving up bs with the pregnancy too! I think Sansa is going to kill her!

  • bella

I haven’t watched the show, but I have read all the books and the first three books are amazing! You must read them especially since you are big fan. I can’t stand when the intentionally make everything dark!
On a makeup note, I am getting Benefit highlighter with cookie and a bunch of blush and maybe the marc Jacobs gel high lighter.

    • Isabella Muse

I have read the books 🙂 and I’m eagerly awaiting the day he actually releases the next one but I might be in an old age assistant living retirement home by that point hahaha! Me too! Walking Dead does it as well! Annoying! Good pick on the benefit palette with cookie! Cookie needs to be solo! It’s quite a lovely shade ;-D
