Tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Hr Full Coverage Foundation relaunched at qvc.com with a new, and improved formula. I have no idea what this means…No really, I don’t. They don’t list the ingredients so I’m not sure what’s improved about it. I feel offended.

Ha…

I mean, don’t get me wrong I actually like the original Tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Hr Full Coverage Foundation. I haven’t used it in a long time but I do like it. It’s pretty lightweight, provides great coverage, and has a nice consistency. I think I never really used it all that much because it is very pigmented and I’m a less is more foundation user.

According to Tarte the new formula has a soft matte finish, yes, ok so did the original! It’s weightless with full coverage, yes, ok, so did the original! And has a whipped mousse-like texture, mmmhmm, yup, we know…and it has Amazonian Clay for “longer, truer wear”. Tell me more….!

It’s also available in a larger array of shades, 46 to be exact (46 of almost the same exact shade! Wahooooooo! There’s sarcasm to be had here). There are POC that would like foundation too! 40 all pale shades and 6 dark shades really isn’t inclusive guys. Did we not learn anything from Shape Tape Foundation-Gate 2016…I mean, you almost got canceled over that.

Tarte, sit down. Let’s talk.

Tell me again what is that’s new and improved here. No seriously, I’m not being sarcastic. I really wanna know! The packaging looks different but what else…can we get an ingredient breakdown. Maybe a before and after look at the prior formula versus the newer?

I’m really just a generally curious girl.

Ok, I’m tired. I’ve exhausted myself trying to understand your shade range and improved formula.

Must take nap. Sorry, I was salty but this is 2021. We need to do better please.

For those that need a new and improved Tarte Amazonian Clay 16-Hr Full Coverage Foundation you can grab it with a brush for $39 at QVC.

Girl, you are SALTY today!! And I love it. ;D

Seriously, Tarte, we get it — you don’t know the meaning of inclusive. Stop trying to pretend you do.

LOL sorry! It just pissed me off. LIKE first of all why is it improved. I need to know more. Secondly, the shades jebus the shades…they are not inclusive!

      • Susan

No, no, don’t be sorry!! You are 100% correct on all your posts/opinions this week. Keep ’em coming. And have a wonderful, ranch dressing filled weekend! (French fries + ranch dressing, just sayin’.)

So true and so pathetic. I used to think about this issue when m/u was somewhat ‘segregated.’ There were non-inclusive dept store brands and far fewer targeted at African American consumers: Fashion Fair, Rainbow Cosmetics (DC, iirc.). And later, Iman. I only patronized those brands for color cosmetics, but my observation was that the black companies of those days did not have a wide range for their darker skinned clientele, either. So, yes, progress has been made, but there’s a long way to go, as far as base products are concerned.

just me over here like head desk repeat over and over again. How are we in 2021 and this is what we are offering?

It’s especially grating with big brands, like Tarte. These days, people vote with their values as much as with their dollars. Brands erode their customer base with non-inclusive shade ranges. I love one of Tarte’s lipstick formulas, but have written off Tarte, and plenty of others have done the same.

there are 46 of them total. It’s a lot of fair shades and not as many darker ones. The problem is with 46 shades you’d think it would be a lot more diverse.

I absolutely hate the new formula, its not the same, its cakey, thicker, much thicker and dry as if youre putting on actual clay to your face! Theres no need to change the formula but to add more shades. I am so disappointed in them, they lost me as a customer.
