I’m Gonna Be The One To Say It. I Hate the New Ulta Website Design.

Hello, I’m the Muse and I’m getting older and I hate change. No but seriously, I never liked changed and that hasn’t nothing to do with age. Change in my work life, change in my personal life, change period. I don’t like change. I like things to stay exactly the way they area. I’m a creature of habit, I’m a creature of discipline, I’m a beast of organization and cleanliness, and the pandemic has just made all that much, much worst. I don’t like anything changed or rearranged. Am I anal? Probably but that’s just the person I am. When you whip the rug out from under me and suddenly change something I get a case of anxiety. Like for example, this morning my boyfriend was all like, “Hey, we should do all the shelving around the TV in the basement over! I called a guy yesterday about doing some custom shelving!”

No, no, we can’t do that. We need to think about this. We need to Google it, plan it, schedule a time and date in the distant future after we figure out the design and looked over different blueprints and pictures and checked out carpenters and do background checks on them with blood samples.

In all seriousness, I don’t really love change. Especially if it’s messy change and I gotta say Ulta’s new website design is just chaotic. I’m probably one of the few people that liked the old website. It was simple, easy to find things, and it loaded. This new website refuses to load correctly for me, I struggle checking out (my cart is empty when I go to checkout), and why are there like two popups (one for a sign in and one for something else) every time I visit. STOP GIVING ME A SIGN IN POPUP! Sometimes I just wanna browse without being bombarded with a sign in to my account popup! Also, whenever I want to search sometime forget it. I’ll search but the page won’t load the item or the brand I am searching for.

WTF IS GOING ON! I find the entire design annoying. Does no one realize they could be missing out on potential sales because the design is flawed and even irritating for the user? I really need to know have you been experiencing weird Ulta issues or is it me?

Ulta, I’m just not into this new design. I’m sorry. We can still be friends but I would like it if you ironed these issues out. I’ll accept the change but perhaps if we can just work out the kinks. K, thanks, bye now!

    I absolutely loath the new website, particularly the long run-on pages that take an eternity to load. God forbid you accidentally tap a product while scrolling because it’s going to take forever to reload when you try and go back. Also it’s very likely that you will tap a product on your tablet or phone because of the page design. Grrrr! When you scroll through new products after about the 4th or 5th ” see more” you see the same stuff again. I have found that clearing cache/cookies helps a bit but I have to do it all the time. I do not have these issues anywhere else; Sephora uses same run-on page style but no problems there.

      It’s sooooo horrible especially on desktop! lots of popups on the first page initially, if I search sometimes the product will pop up, sometimes it won’t load the page at all. I sincerely feel like I’m on dial up when I’m using the site. I actually have issues with Sephora too. Their search doesn’t work for me either but Ulta is way worst!

    I’m totally with you. Why would they make the site harder to use? I’m not always there to shop, just a quick check on a certain item. It makes you wonder how much testing they did.

      It’s crazy to me someone was like “This works great, looks good, go ahead and launch it” Did no one fully test it first?

    I can’t even log in, it’s so buggy. It just loads endlessly. And half the time when I search a product without logging in it returns an error. I HATE IT. Come on, Ulta, I literally want to give you money and you are actively preventing me!

      I HAVE THIS ISSUE! When I do log in my cart is empty so I re-add it all and it still shows empty!

    I also do not care for the new Ulta website design. The old one was easier to navigate and get through. This one is definitely NOT user friendly! Bring back the old design.

    Muse, I am so with you on each of your points. It’s not only the ULTA site but many others. Just because something can be done doesn’t mean that it should. These redesigns are being released without prior testing. It’s the same way with these “smart phones.” I don’t know about you but I am constantly besieged with updates, bug fixes, etc., etc., and one thing gets fixed and it throws other things off. I was a systems analyst in a previous life and if I had signed off on a new program or redesign without thoroughly testing and caused issues with other interfacing programs or systems my boss would have thrown me through my office window. My office was located on the 18th floor.

      YES! yes! truth! It’s also sephora and even amazon is a bit picky sometimes! I 100% agree! Phone updates or even software ones of any kind ends up in chaos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These people should have your boss!

    I had no major problems. But I’m using a gaming computer not a tablet or phone. Only nitpicky things like I wish the store availability link was written in a bigger easier to find font. When I want to delete from my wish list, I hate that the page returns to the top instead where the deleted item was.

    It dawned on me I haven’t tried to put anything in my cart yet. So, I will try and see what happens.

    I cannot access my account or cart at all. For days I have gotten a 408 error when I click” sign in.” Ulta customer service is no help at all and implies it is me, clear cache, etc. Others hve the same difficulty. What is more alarming are the number of people who have been double billed and cannot get credits or their account corrected. Also, so many products have inflated prices that are well over MSRP on the product websites. Color charts do not match actual product. I’m afraid to shop at Ulta any more.

    You are not alone. So frustrating. I can never find what I’m looking for. Prices are all over the place, the reviews never load. Now today . Can’t add birthday coupon, my points are missing, haven’t been able to place an order for two days. Get it together Ulta ughhhh

        it’s been pretty crazy! They sort of acknowledged it on IG but not really…! Lots of folks are complaining!
