Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer Review & Swatches
Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer is being added to the permanent line of Rimmel Cosmetics at drugstores this Spring. Lasting Finish Primer has already been released in the UK but this is the first time we’re seeing it here in the US so if you happen to be in the UK this might be old news to you!
I’m seeing a lot of creamy, hydrating primers this Spring which is great because my drier skin appreciates the extra moisture. I don’t really love silicone-based primers like Smashbox Photo Finish so these are perfect for me! According to Rimmel it increases the wear of foundation for up to eight hours after use!
Let’s take a look at Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer!
Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer ($4.99/1 oz) is a thicker creamy texture that has the look and feel of a lotion. It applies and absorbs easily into my skin and leaves it very slightly tacky but sets to a smooth, soft finish. It’s quite hydrating which my drier skin love. It creates a nice softened base for my foundation to adhere to. The extra moisture it provides allows my foundation to apply more easily and gives it a smooth workable canvas. Seriously, hydrating primer can be life changing for those of us with drier skin as it’ll smooth rough, flaky areas and allow our foundation to apply and look smoother and more refined. Lasting Finish Primer is definitely one of those highly moisturizing prime that makes foundation look excellent on drier skin.
I don’t think this is necessarily one for the oily skin folk as it does feel fairly moist and heavy on my skin. It does a decent job blurring the appearance of smaller, visible pores but won’t do great with larger ones. It doesn’t mattify skin but does add light moisture. It isn’t shiny or greasy on my skin but might prove heavy for those with oily skin. It has no fragrance nor does it contain an SPF.

Now…up to 8 hours of extended wear on my foundation? Not so much. It does a good job of hydrating skin and prepping for foundation but I don’t think it’ll extend the wear of foundation or at least it didn’t for me.
If you’re looking for a hydrating primer on the cheap that will prep for foundation and great a smooth, soft workable canvas for it I’d say Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer is your girl. However, if you want something to mattify skin, reduce the appearance of larger pores, and extend the wear of foundation this probably isn’t a great pick!
I liked it a lot and I’d recommend it for drier skin! I could always use more moisture and this provides plenty plus it creates a very smooth, soft base for my foundation and that’s exactly what I need!
Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer is available now at drugstores.
