Maybelline Carnation Cabernet Rebel Bloom Lipstick is one of several limited edition shades of Maybelline Rebel Bloom Color Sensational Lipsticks launching for Spring 2015. The thing I’m loving about the Rebel Bloom formula is even shades I wouldn’t normally wear, like Carnation Cabernet, end up being quite wearable.

Maybelline Carnation Cabernet Rebel Bloom Lipstick comes as a surprise considering that the Rebel Bloom Lipstick Collection just launched in December so I didn’t expect to see new shades avaialble so soon and limited edition ones at that.
Maybelline’s Rebel Bloom Lipstick range is marketed as creamier pastels with pop that never look washed out, dull, or shine. For me these kinda hold the same appeal and concept as the Maybelline Bleached Neons Collection. The colors are vivid, bold, and bright but have a subtly to them that makes them wearable without being too bold.

The Rebel Bloom formula has honey nectar which kinda gives the formula a balmy texture. I find these are formulated a lot differently from the original Color Sensational line. They feel like a balm and initially drag during application but soften up nicely. They feel nicely hydrating on lips without being drying and provide a four hour wear with a slight sheen finish. They have the same odd vanilla play doh fragrance of the original line but it seems a little more subtle (it kinda reminds me of marzipan).
Carnation Cabernet is a bright purple-y fuchsia! This is where the Rebel Bloom Lipstick Collection excels as typically I don’t really like purples or fuchsias for that matter but this shade is utterly wearable. They create a perfect balance of pigment here that doesn’t overwhelm me and looks very nice on lips. The shade is utterly wearable without being too intense or bold. I dunno what Maybelline’s secret is but they are doing something right to create pigmented yet wearable shades in the Rebel Bloom line!
Maybelline Carnation Cabernet Rebel Bloom Lipstick is a unique shade well worth picking up (even if it scares you a little)!
