Schick Intuition F.A.B. Razor A Real Review From a Real Hairy Girl

I picked up the new Schick Intuition F.A.B. Razor ($9.99) which promised me that I could shave forwards and backwards. Wait, what? A razor that shaves backwards and forwards!? That’s incredible! It would cut my shaving in time! It would take the chore out shaving! Could you imagine!? You could go down one leg and come right back up it without cutting yourself.
This is surely a miracle razor.
Let’s check it out!

The Schick Intuition F.A.B. Razor will set you about ten bucks depending where you buy it and it comes with two replacement razors. Considering replacement razors cost an arm, a leg, your soul, and your firstborn child I thought that ten bucks for the handle and two razors was a fair enough deal. Plus I’m sure at some point they’ll be coupons that pop up and sales at your local drugstore and you might score it for even less.
The idea of the razor is that it allows you to safely shave back and forth thanks to the fact it has two sets of blades that face in opposite directions. This seemed a great way to save time during shaving as you aren’t moving in one direction and don’t have to start from the bottom. You can just move the razor down and back up easily. Cool right?! And pretty damn innovative too!

Now I totally brought into the marketing on this and after watching the youTube video they created I was racing to the drugstore to buy one of these for myself. In my excitement, I failed to notice that the model in the video does not have a SINGLE HAIR ON HER LEGS OR UNDER HER ARMS! Sigh. I’m a hairy beast and can’t really relate. It would have been great if they had some chick that looked like a yeti sitting in a garden tub shaving her legs. Nope, they had a woman that was moving the razor up and down her completely hairless legs and under arms. Even as a long time blogger I get sucked into false advertising.
Needless to say, I thought using this underarms would be particularly helpful but I’ve had laser treatments under my arms so I was only able to test on my legs and I can honestly say, despite what PopSugar told me in their review I was unable to shave back and fourth and and up and down.

Here’s the thing. Since this has two sets of blades you’re actually getting a lot less power than if you had one set of blades facing in one direction. That means if you decide to shave up or down depending on your preference this razor will remove less hair as it expects you to move up and down which will apparently get you a closer shave as well as allow you to shave your legs (underarms or whatever) faster. I shave my legs upwards and in my experience, with the razor, it removed a lot less hair due to the lack of blades. But hey, I could use it going down now too! So, the method was if I did it up one pass and down the other, I’d probably remove more hair.
No.
That didn’t happen.
When I moved in upwards it did remove some hair but when I attempted to move it down in the same area all it did was push the hair I had removed down and removed very little hair on the downward stroke. The blades are supposed to pivot in the direction you’re shaving but I’m not sure they actually moved. I read a few reviews that said this actually caused cuts but thankfully I didn’t experience any cuts but I also didn’t experience any hair removal either.
I decided that I’d urge some of my friends and my sister to purchase one of these as I really wanted to see if what I was experiencing would match up with their experiences. Most of them described the same experience I had that shaving in one direction removed less hair than their normal razor and shaving in the opposite direction just seemed to push the hair downward but didn’t really remove it.
To say I was disappointed was an understatement but what do you expect from a woman’s razor created by a man?!
Oh well!
Needless to say I’m going to say save your ten bucks and buy something else!
Where to buy
Schick Intuition F.A.B. Razor is a new razor with pivotal blades that allows you to shave backward and forwards buy sadly, as great as the idea is in theory it doesn’t quite work out correctly in reality.
- Anyone who has light, fairer hair might see some benefit from this.
- Anyone with coarse, darker, thicker hair.
- Anyone prone to ingrown hair.
- Anyone looking to shave backwards and forwards and vice versa (it simply doesn’t work out the way they advertise it).
Honestly, if you have really light, fair hair maybe you’d see some benefit from this razor but those of us with thicker, coarse hair should skip it!
