Let’s Revisit Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser Because It’s Rotting in My Bathroom Vanity

I thought today we’d take a moment to revisit Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser and other potential products that are lying in our beauty graveyards.

I noticed that Allure called Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser one of the “Best Cleansing Balms” Hello? Hello? Anyone home? The best? Naaa!

Am The only that has a big jar of Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser sitting in my bathroom vanity rotting happily away? I purchased it when it first launched and was terribly unimpressed. It’s very thick and it takes a lot of patience to get it to melt down. I’d hesitant to even call it a cleansing balm for that reason! I also felt to a formula that best catered to drier skin as I can see anyone with oily skin potentially not loving it.

Have you tried Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser?

Did you love it or is it wasting away in your beauty closet?

Do share!

It will never take the place of my Clinique Take The Day Away balm. Drunk Elephant’s moisturizers are their best products, I won’t go to anything else for that. I don’t use anything else of theirs.

I got a deluxe sample when abought my protini moisturizer earlier this last fall. I love cleansing balms so so much and the Farmacy Green Gleen is my gold standard. I hate panned the DE Slaai balm, which was only possible because there wasn’t much to go through.

I also bought the Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm, and it is basically a giant tube of the Slaai balm. Very disapointing. I could have returned it but because I just tossed another balm (Ebrorian) for being thick and overly fragranced I am hate panning this one as well. At least in the shower it gets softer in the heat.

The Body Shop Chammomile is my current runner up to the Farmacy Green Clean. Really want to try the new e.l.f. one.

You’re not alone here. I really don’t love it. It’s so damn thick and impossible to remove. Def not great and btw I tried the Inkey List too and thought it was awful! It actually came to me all melted but it did solidify but still awful!

I actually reviewed the ELF one recently if you need help deciding 😀

I actually really liked it amd i have combo oily skin. My ride or die is Farmacy’s green clean though. I will also say the DE slaai was step 1 of 2 with second step being my clarisonic and benzyl perioxide cleanser ;).
I do like thebody shop’s chamomile balm and i am definitely going to try the new sephora collection cleasing balm- price is on point!!

My ride or die is farmacy too! great stuff! I think the follow up with the clarisonic prob helps remove a lot of the access too because I always feel like I have a film with it after washing!

I deliberately avoided it after seeing your reviews. I’ve always moved away from DE as they developed s a brand as they became high drama and picked asinine names for their products – “slaai” WTF is that? It’s meant to “slay” your makeup right? Are they marketing to children?

glad you did! money saved! Is that what slaai means? LOL I wasn’t sure what they were going for there!

I truly prefer cleansing oils as opposed to balms. I’m all about the Hada Lada cleansing oils.

I asked for a sample when it first launched( Oh, remember those day, we could still get samples!!). I didn’t like it at all.

I didn’t get it because you said you didn’t like it, lol. But now that I have read Sali Hughes’s book Pretty Iconic (twice), I am wondering if it’s better with a “hot flannel”? Like is it supposed to be removed that way, or would it at least work better that way? I don’t even quite know what she means by hot flannel. How hot? I avoid hot temps on my skin whenever possible since I turn all horrible shades of red, but perhaps some warmth might get you through your rotting shelf product?

I wasn’t impressed with this one either & the black exfoliating beads that come with it are a joke too. Honestly my favorite makeup balm, melting cleanser is the one from Algenist@ $35(its kinda $$) Or the La Mer Cleansing oil mixed with ur favorite cleanser. Those are my 2 favorites. Drunk Elephant has lots of awesome products, unfortunately this isn’t one of them!
