5 stars out of 5

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($42) is a hyaluronic acid serum that hydrated and promises to plump skin. God, I hate giving Glow Recipe a stellar review because I feel like an influencer shoving Glow Recipe down your throat. Seriously, Glow Recipe is all across social media lately and it’s sort of becoming a sickening thing to see. It’s not to say their formulas aren’t good! They actually are but they are for much younger skin than my own and they are much better for blemish-prone or oily skin in my opinion.

Glow Recipe isn’t something I’d reach for if you have drier skin that needs a good deal of moisture to get you through the day but Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum is one of the exceptions to that rule!

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum is definitely a product that deserves some positive recognition because it literally does exactly what it promises. This is a fruit extract infused Sodium Hyaluronate formula that produces immediate, visible results. I think HA does have incredible benefits and it’s a staple in my own skincare diet. And sure, if used correctly, you’ll notice an immediate change in the texture of your skin but actually seeing the results isn’t always visible. With this serum, you’ll notice immediately how it plumps up the skin.

It’s a water gel-like consistency with an odd light, earthy scent which is subtle. It absorbs super easily into the skin and doesn’t leave a sticky or greasy film behind. Do not, I repeat, do not use it on your dry skin. I remember my first experience with HA several years ago. I was pretty new to using it and I was applying it on my dry skin and oh lord the tightness. Some HAs are actually quite fine when used on drier skin but most aren’t as friendly and Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a formula that isn’t ideal for use on drier skin. Use it on damp skin for the best results otherwise you’re coming out of the experience feeling quite dry and tight.

I typically get out of the shower, pat my face gently with a towel, and apply this directly on my face. As I dry off and do my other stuff I let it absorb into my skin before following up with the Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer. The two work great together to create a smooth canvas for makeup. You can def see how well the serum works at plumping skin up. I have slight smile lines at the corners of my face and this eases their appearance. My skin feels bouncy to the touch after application as well! It isn’t super heavy duty hydrating but it’s enough moisture that your foundation and other makeup with look smoother and apply easier. It isn’t greasy or oily and draws enough moisture from the air into your skin as the day progresses to keep your makeup looking fresher for longer periods of time. It’s not something I’d recommend as a night treatment but in the day it’s pretty much the perfect collection for smooth, lightly hydrated skin! It should work great for those that are prone to oil as well as the formula isn’t so heavy that it’ll create an oily finish or shine on your skin.

I think I like it must because I can just see how much bouncy and smoother my skin looks after I apply it! I can also apply my makeup and look in my Simple Human Mirror and see how my blush or my foundation isn’t cracking on flakier, drier areas of my face. This just creates a very smooth, hydrated area for makeup to lay atop.

All in all, Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a keeper! If you’re not sure if you wanna indulge in a larger size Glow Recipe has a little Fruit Babies Bestsellers Kit that includes a few deluxe sizes of their most popular products and this serum is included!

Do love!

Where to buy

Sephora

Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a lightweight, quick-absorbing gel that acts to restore moisture as it retains it. This is incredibly lightweight and best used on damp skin for the best results as in my experience it can feel tight if you use it on dry skin. The results are actually quite visible in my experience. It softens the smile lines I have and plumps my skin up creating a great base for makeup to adhere to. I notice my makeup goes on smoother and more importantly looks smoother when I use this. It’s ideal for daily use in my experience but for those with drier skin like me you may not wish to use it in your nightly routine as you might require something richer in the evenings.

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Propanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Pleiogynium Timoriense Fruit Extract, Podocarpus Elatus Fruit Extract, Terminalia Ferdinandiana Fruit Extract, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharide, Acacia Seyal Gum Extract, sr-Spider Polypeptide-1**, Pantothenic Acid, Phospholipids, Sodium Hydroxide, Spirulina Maxima Extract, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Root Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Polyglyceryl-6 Caprylate, Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate, Potassium Sorbate, Propylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Citric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydroxyacetophenone, Carrageenan/Chondrus Crispus, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance/Parfum*.

It’s funny you say that Glow Recipe is better for oily/acne prone skin, because I felt like Glow Recipe had almost forgotten about us oily-skinned humans until their recent Strawberry release. Other than maybe their toner, but even that is non-drying and therefore universal. All of their moisturizers are SO heavy! I got the Plum serum in a box and I actually it’s pretty good as well. In general, Glow Recipe gets a bit over-hyped, maybe because of the squee factor, but they do also make some pretty good products.
