Marc Capra and Heela Yang built an empire on the scent that is Sol de Janeiro Sol Cheirosa ’62 Eau de Parfum. The sweet warm smell of salted caramel, pistachio, and vanilla is what put Sol de Janeiro on everyone’s beauty map.

I remember the first time I heard of Bum Bum Cream and how I laughed at the name and the idea of the product. Little did I know how much I’d fall in love with how it smelled and how obsessed I’d become with owning everything that was scented like it. I take personally responsible for Sol de Janeiro Sol Cheirosa ’62 Eau de Parfum as I remember a few years ago saying, “God, they should make this scent into a perfume!” and in 2020, 5 years after Bum Bum Cream hit the beauty airwaves, we got a perfume.

And it was the best day of my life.

And it reminded me of the huge crush I had on Uncle Jesse from Full House.

I dunno what it was. Maybe the leather vest, the mullet, the way he cuddled baby Michelle? Something about Jesse was terribly appealing to me growing up. He was just hot. Well, technically, John Stamos is still hot AF but as Jesse, the bad boy uncle with a heart of gold, he was even hotter.

That line from Kokomo plays over and over in my head whenever I think of Uncle Jesse. Back then, my childhood ears heard “tropical cake melting in your hand” but in reality, the song went:

Off the Florida Keys, there’s a place called Kokomo
That’s where you want to go to get away from it all
Bodies in the sand, tropical drink melting in your hand
We’ll be falling in love to the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo

And to this day, whenever the song comes on I still hear it as tropical cake and sing it as such. It’s actually the very first thing that entered my head when I originally smelled Bum Bum Cream. Tropical cake melting in my hand! Exactly! Spot on! Ooey, gooey cake with coconut frosty and salted caramel drizzled on top melting in the warm sun on a tropical island somewhere. You can’t tell me that Sol de Janiero doesn’t capture the vacation vibe spot on with this scent. It’s simply one of the best tropical gourmands I’ve ever had the pleasure of smelling. Perfection.

I cannot tell a lie. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Body Fragrance Mist is weak but still one of my favorite fragrances.

Sadly, Sol de Janeiro Sol Cheirosa ’62 Eau de Parfum isn’t long-lasting either. It’s a bit stronger than the mist but it isn’t as strong as I had hoped for. That being said, I’m already on my second bottle of it since it launched. I have a VAST fragrance collection and it’s unheard of for me to actually finish a bottle of anything but I somehow managed to finish an entire bottle of Sol de Janeiro Sol Cheirosa ’62 Eau de Parfum. I wear it that much. If you’re wanting it to last longer I highly recommend layering. It helps tremendously and you can get a good scent tropical scent cloud around you if you apply the body cream first followed by the EDP hey if you really wanna go wild spray on some of the body mist first and follow up with the perfume.

It smells like tropical perfection, my dear friends. Like a yummy tropical cake or drink or a warm day at the beach….! Delicious! It’s so exotic. Like tanning oil, vanilla, caramel, and a nutty element from the pistachio. It’s warm, inviting, slightly sweet, and all tropical. I have it on today and I smell like a delicious snack! I layered well so the scent is lingering around me and making me think of being on a beautiful island, laying in the warm sun…I’m not even a beach person but this scent makes me wish I was.

Do you need it?

I think so. That’s why it’s Muse Approved.

Not interested in the perfume, but gotta say, who didn’t have a crush on Uncle Jessie? I did for the longest time and still find him handsome!

For a second, I thought you meant Uncle Jesse from Dukes of Hazzard!!!

That’s the generation gap there- you grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s.

I’m sad to say I have no idea who Uncle Jesse was in Dukes of Hazzard haha. Sorry my dear 😀
