5 stars out of 5

A few months ago I picked up Zeesea Cosmetics Palace Identity Peony Blush and I have to confess I did it because of the packaging. It’s one of the prettiest blushes I’ve added to my collection in a very long time. As you know, I used to be obsessed with Japanese Makeup (and later on Korean Beauty). Japanese brands create some of the most gorgeous and uniquely packaged makeup. For a long time Jill Stuart Cosmetics were exclusively available in Japan and I was obsessed with collecting all of her items.

I was a huge junkie for any and all makeup that was beautifully packaged for a very long time. Seriously, the makeup part could suck majorly but I’d still buy it because I loved how beautifully packaged it was.

I’m not really sure what happened but I stopped purchasing “pretty things” and started concentrating more on formulas. As I got older I guess I just realized wasting money on pretty makeup with awful formulas simply wasn’t worth it. And as much as I loved to have all these gorgeous things on my vanity what was the point of having them if I was 1. to scared to use them and/or 2. they had terrible formulas. I mean, we can’t blame formulas on everything. Sometimes the packaging and the formula were wonderful! But I fell into a trap where it was “too pretty to use”! Which was absurd but I had this weird mentality going on that I’d ruin it if I used it! Trust me when I say, use your makeup! Enjoy it! Don’t let it sit and rot away just because it comes in gorgeous packaging! I’ve let too many products lay in waste when I could have been using them! Life is short! Use the makeup!

Zeesea Cosmetics Palace Identity Peony Blush (the shade in this post is BO1) is one I purchased purely for the packaging alone. It’s been a long time since I did that but I was having a “I need retail therapy” moment and this fell into my radar at that perfect moment.

This comes in a gorgeous red box with foiled gold accents! It’s $33 and 0.25 oz in size. The compact looks very elegant and luxurious but it’s actually plastic. But nonetheless, it’s still absolutely stunning. It’s a gorgeous gold compact with a raised floral design. At the side is a hanging charm and inside is a very generously-sized mirror. One thing I noticed was the compact doesn’t snap closed. And I’m actually a little unsure if it’s magnetic. It seems to just shut but not tightly! I did travel with it recently and it didn’t open up with a good deal of juggling around in my makeup bag. I just thought it was something that deserves a mention though!

The blush is also a pretty raised floral design made up of a pretty warm coral shade, a cream highlight shade, and a warmer terracotta peach. The design did not wear off and still is very much intact after several uses. I expected the blush to be chalky and possibly weak in the pigment department but it’s actually very silky and has excellent color payoff! It popped beautifully on my cheeks and had a soft silky finish that didn’t adhere to my drier cheeks. The color wore for a solid eight hours without fading as well! It’s a really well-thought-out and beautifully presented blush.

I have to admit I didn’t expect a lot from the blush. I’ve been burnt quite a bit by blushes from both Korea and Japan. They tend to be very weak in the pigment department or the formulas are a bit too chalky. But China seems to be doing things right as this blush had excellent pigmentation and soft, silky consistency that blended to a smooth, seamless finish on my cheeks!

In the end, Zeesea Cosmetics Palace Identity Peony Blush isn’t all about pretty packaging! It’s actually a well-formulated blush with a beautiful formula and excellent wear too!

I loved this one and recommend a pick up!

Where to buy

Amazon

Zeesea Cosmetics Palace Identity Peony Blush is $33 and 0.25 oz in size. Zeesea is a Chinese brand that makes incredibly beautifully packaged makeup! This blush was a surprise hit for me as I went into it thinking it was just pretty packaging but turns out the formula is great too. It arrives in a gorgeous gold compact with a charm hanging from the side. Inside is a pretty floral blush that’s made up of three shades. You’ll get a soft cream white which acts as a highlighter or even to tone down some of the warmth of the blush! And two blush shades which are a warm coral and a terracotta peach. The shade is super pigmented and the blush formula is soft and silky. It applied beautifully on my cheeks with a smooth finish! The color wore for a solid eight hours without fading.

Pros

  • Gorgeous packaging!
  • Great pigment.
  • Applies flawlessly.
  • Wears long!

Cons

  • Slight flaw with the compact closing tight.
