How Long Do You Have to Wash Your Face For?

This is your sign to set a timer or buy a timer so you know how long you have to wash your face. How long do you have to wash your face? The answer may surprise you and it may surprise you even more that maybe you’re not technically spending enough time washing your face.

I have no shame in telling you I have a Pioneer Woman Charlie Digital Kitchen Timer in my bathroom by my sink. He’s set for 1 minute and I use him every night during my daily cleanse. Why? I realized a few months ago I was NOT spending enough time washing my face. Removing my makeup has always been a ritual I’ve taken joy in! Well, my entire nightly skincare routine is always a relaxing experience for me. But I realized that I wasn’t spending enough time washing my face. This realization came to me when I was toning my face and noticed a bit of dirt and makeup still showing on my cotton pad. At that moment I realized I wasn’t doing things right!

Derms recommend you spend 30 seconds washing your face gently to remove makeup, dirt, and oil. I double cleanse so, I set my timer for 1 minute and do 30 seconds with each routine. It may sound extreme to some people! And I understand if this isn’t something for you but for anyone that enjoys their skincare routine I think it’ll probably be something you’ll totally embrace.

You don’t need to go and buy a timer obviously 🙂 but it helps me! You can set one up on your phone as well or Alexa or Google Home can help with that too! My boyfriend makes fun of my little timer since we do have Alexa set up in the bathroom and I could have just used that but hey, I take joy in my little hound dog timer!

Count this as your reminder to wash your face a little longer! I promise that you’ll notice a difference in your skin. I know my complexion looks brighter now that I take that extra time to cleanse well!
