Just a Girl That Likes Baking and Novelty Earrings

I’ve always been the girl that had a few bottles of water and Greek yogurt in her fridge. Later, when my boyfriend became a permanent fixture in my life the I became we and we became the home with a few bottles of water in the fridge and some Greek yogurt. We spent so much time traveling, eating out with friends, and going to dinner every night, it was such a very rare thing for us to actually cook a meal at home. Not to mention I was very, very good at burning boiling water.
And then the pandemic happened…and I learned how to cook. I watched cooking Tiktoks, I took online Master Class cooking classes, I got an Air Fryer, I got a Slow Cooker and an Instant Pot, I learned how to bake cookies, cakes, pastries, even bread! I made ratatouille and perfected it! I even learned how to do Chipolite at home with some yummy cauliflower rice! I found out that eating at home can be just as satisfying as spending a million bucks at a fancy French restaurant in Manhattan.
The thing that pleased me the most, that made me the happiest was baking. I turned into a girl that liked to bake. And the reason why is my dad…..I had very little contact with my parents during the pandemic. It was months and months before I actually saw them outside of Facetime, phone calls, and waving at them several feet away whenever I was leaving off groceries or essentials. My sister and I took turns shopping for them during the lockdown and one of the things I’d do every single week whether it was her or I doing the shopping was bake something. I’d make some special treat that I’d drop off or I’d leave out for my sister to bring to them. My greatest joy was when my dad would call me and rave on and on and on and on about how delicious the cake I sent was or how amazing the cookies I made for or how my pastel de natas tasted like heaven! And the thing is, I knew what he was saying was true because my dad is NOT SHY when he eats something he doesn’t like. He’ll totally let loose and tell me his true opinion. I remember last year he said, “Izzy, you haven’t made me pandemic donuts in a long time!” He was referencing the fact that at the time finding Entenmann’s Chocolate Donuts was really hard so I found a copycat recipe online for them knowing how much he adored them. He named them “pandemic donuts” and to this day calls them that!
Anyway……this was a long story to introduce you to a really cute pair of earrings.

HOW ADORABLE are these Betsey Johnson Pie Mixer Mismatched earrings? These came out with the Valentine’s Day Collection and I instantly purchased them. They’re a little kitschy, a lot cute, and perhaps not for everyone but I adore them. They are mismatched! You get on cute piece of pie and a little red mixer. I mean, come on? How adorable are these?
Totally worth a haul if you’re a baking girl (or guy)!
