If You Could Delete Anything from the Beauty World What Would It Be?

If you could delete anything from the beauty world what would it be? Maybe a bad trend like bleaching your own eyebrows or perhaps a product you feel is overhyped! Or maybe even a makeup item you simply hate.

If you could delete anything at all from our makeup world and never have to hear about it again what would it be?

No hate on anyone and not naming any names but I’d delete a few beauty influencers from the makeup world. I’m tired of the constant in-your-face lies, tired of them yelling at me through the screen of my phone, tired of seeing them everywhere when I’m not even looking for them, tired of the crying apologies and emotional breakdowns, it’s just all so overwhelming sometimes. Everyone has to make their own kind of music and sing their own special tune but sometimes I just don’t want to hear their song. Sorry, I sound mean-spirited right now but I feel like I simply can’t escape some beauty influencers as they permeate every news outlet, social platform, etc…! You don’t even have to search for these people! They are just there in your face all the time. Some of them truly remind me of the social media stars in the American Horror Stories short “The Naughty List”. Head up their ass, tone deaf, just all about me me me, and not really understanding their audience.

So, yeah, sorry, DELETE.

I’d also delete long-wearing liquid matte lipstick. I think this one deserves no explanation. This isn’t 2015 anymore. Aren’t we over this formula already? Please we need more shiny lips! Stop with the matte lip everything! I don’t want it anymore! Take it away.

Your turn!

What would you delete from the beauty world?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. The super thin 90’s eyebrows which thankfully NO ONE is doing…. I’ll talk everyone out of it if i hear…. so not worth the torture trying to grow back in. 🙂

I agree the beauty influencer community has gotten way out of control. I really only take your word and Emily Noel’s.
I think all the huge false eyelashes and extensions need to go unless you’re performer of some kind. There’s a time and place for them and it’s not every day life. I think a good mascara can go a long way and truly make your eyelashes look beautiful without looking fake.

    • Isabella Muse

thank you! that means a lot to me! I love Emily too! She’s so sweet!!! influencer culture feels toxic to me 🙁 And yeah, I rarely wear falsies in my everyday life. I’m amazed with people who do!

    • Nikole

I’m so glad you mention the false eyelashes and extensions. I hate them on others. I of course understand that people can and will wear what they please, but I just hate the ‘caterpillar on the eyelid’ or the ‘trees growing out of the eyelid’ looks of these items. I like my lash growth serums and conditioning mascaras for eyelashes.

LMAO I’d delete all lip gloss and shiny lips! Also all nude lipstick/gloss because what’s the point? Deep, bright saturated MATTE color or bust! Muahahaha! 😉

Also all contour powder because I don’t know wtf to do with it lol

  • Sharon

Red eyeshadows! Got no time for my eyelids to look like two inflamed nipples.

    • Joyce

INFLAMED NIPPLES LOLOLOLLL I feel like red eyeshadow is always thrown in grayscaleish palettes. Anyone remember Wet n Wild Night Elf palette??

  • DiDi

Glittery makeup. Even though i love sparkly and shiny things. It just doesn’t work on the face. There is nothing worse than having glitter from your eye makeup on your nose and check. Not pretty at all

Isabella, you definitely hit it on the head, I hate Matte Lipsticks, I don’t think they do justice to anyone. Also I agree with you, lot of Divas on you tube that are just into their selves and it shows up on my feed whether I want it or not! Sick of makeup fads that will soon be in the bargain bin and oh my my list goes on. Also how many mascaras do we really need?

Just ranting and love your blog it’s my favorite! Keep on doing what you do, you are great and such a beautiful woman.

    • Isabella Muse

same girl same! I just don’t understand why people like them! LOL! true on mascaras 🙂 Thank you so so so much Bernadette you’re lovely 🙂 and made my day! Sorry for such a delayed reply! I have trouble keeping up with comment sometimes!

There are quite a few things I would like to delete from the makeup world and these include:
Nude lipsticks – makes everyone look ill
Matte lipsticks – dries out my lips
Liquid matte lipsticks – very drying
Glitter eyeshadows – particularly those containing PET glitter – are you listening ColourPop?
Bronzers – very difficult to get right

Muse I have been following you for quite some time and I continued to do so because I appreciate your honesty about the products you are reviewing. I’m in my early 50’s and I’m definitely not into the obnoxious scene you refer to above it’s a huge turn off! Keep up your fabulous work! I’m with you on the matte lip scene as a bye bye way too drying not to mention that I hate to use my BiFacil eye makeup remover to take off my lipstick !

    • Isabella Muse

You made my day thank you Tracy! I truly appreciate you following me for so long! UGH OMG I hate removing my lipstick with eye and lip remover! Tastes horrible haha! I totally hear you! And yeah, sadly, I find I can’t relate at all to influencers lately 🙁

    Brown lipstick.
    Dark lip liner.
Really overly thick eyebrows, that draw attention to themselves.
