Hourglass Equilibrium Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm ($82) is an eye cream I’ve been telling you about for far too long without serving up a review. But today, I’m changing that. Let’s review the Hourglass Equilibrium Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm and find out why I love it so much!

I’m on my third jar of this stuff and I’m contemplating a backup during the Sephora Holiday Savings Event. There are very few eye creams that I own (and I’ve tried plenty) which I can rave about being SUPER duper hydrating. One of them is in fact Hourglass Equilibrium Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm. There are also plenty that claim to be eye balms but are just in fact eye creams. Hourglass can absolutely call their formula an eye balm in my opinion as it’s thick, rich, and has a vaseline-like consistency that feels balmy.

This is pretty expensive for that you get but I absolutely will purchase and re-purchase again and again because of not only how hydrating it is but how it softens finer lines around my eyes. This is a glycerin-based formula that contains vitamin c, likes of cones, and and emollients like Triethylhexanoin and Diglycerin a superior cousin to glycerin that’s highly moisturizing. If you’re looking for moisture this is absolutely the formula you need to check out. Diglycerin acts a lot like hyaluronic acid but without the need for water to activate it. It’s a natural moisturizing agent that reduces water from leaving the delicate under eye area ad helps to retain water around that area so that it stays hydrated and seals in moisture.

Keep in mind Hourglass isn’t promising you the world with this formula. They do promise that this formula will “provide rapid hydration that lasts up to eight hours, reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and puffiness”. They probably should have said “softened the appearance of…” but I’ll let them have that “reducing” keyword. Also, in my experience it did not lessen my puffiness it did however, do exactly as promised which was hydrate and hydrate well plus aided in retaining moisture around the eye area and softening (my keyword) the appearance of my finer lines.

If you have concealer issues where it doesn’t apply smoothly enough, cakes, or creases a very small drop of this applied under your eye pre-concealer application will result in smoother coverage not to mention the formula is so highly moisturizing you’ll find your finer looks are softer and less “crinkly” for lack of a better word which results in less crease and a smoother appearance. I use this nightly and if my eyes demand it I’ll use it in the day as well. A LITTLE goes a very long way at keeping the area under well hydrated and smooth!

As I mentioned above this is very thick, vaseline-like consistency. It absorbs easily into my skin and leaves it softened and smooth. It doesn’t treat my puffiness, it doesn’t eliminate or erase my lines. It does however, leave my finer lines looking softer and leaves my under eye area super hydrated and that’s exactly what I want and expect from my eye area. Because at this point in my life I realize all these promises of eliminating darkness, erasing fine lines, making my eyes look dramatically less puffy, etc…etc….aren’t really going to be treated by a simple eye cream alone. Hourglass promises and delivers on what they claim this does and that’s provide intense moisture.

If you suffer from dryness the Hourglass Equilibrium Intensive Hydrating Eye Balm is what you need to treat it! Love this stuff. I tend to haul during a sale since it is rather pricey but even if I couldn’t find a sale I’d likely dish out the full price. It’s simply that good.

I’ve used this also and it is a very nice product. I still haven’t bit the bullet on purchasing it, I’m just using a sample for now. A little bit goes a long way, which is a plus considering the price. I have sooooo many eye creams so I may actually purchase it in the future.

honestly, the small sample size they offer in their skincare sampler will last like a million years! A little goes such a very long way 😀

Muse, I agree with you. This stuff is the bomb! My eyes are so, so, so dry. Within 30 mins of applying eye cream, my skin has just sucked it up and is begging for more moisture. And I’m talking rich, heavy eye creams. This stuff is different. It hangs on for hours and hours for me. Even overnight. I’m still trying to master concealer with it though. It makes my concealer slip and slide. I suspect I’m using a drop too much but I’ll get it dialed in. I’ll be buying this for years to come.

fantastic 😀 I’m so glad to hear it and I have the same experience! It really provides solid lasting moisture! I find a very little in the AM is good for my concealer. I apply, allow it to set for a few minutes, and proceed with concealer.

This eye balm is slept on, probably because of the price point, but like you said it lasts foreverrrrr and is the only eye cream/balm that actually seems to do what it claims! I’m a convert and use it year-round.

amen preach! Same here! Fantastic stuff! Especially if you are dry!
