If you’re looking for something new on the chemical exfoliating front you might just navigate towards L’Oreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel that’s available today at ulta.com! Diamond and Platinum Members get early access to this new peel today and everyone else can snag it starting tomorrow. It already has a slew of positive reviews on Google and Tiktoks are starting to trickle in promoting this as a new must-have peel. I’d recommend sticking to Bliss BlissPro Liquid Exfoliant or the Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Exfoliating Peeling Solution if you want smoother, brighter skin because L’Oreal is failing us with this new Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel formula.

L’Oreal Paris Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel is a 25% percent AHA, BHA, and PHA wash-off gel exfoliating treatment much like the recently released Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant Peel. Both of these are rinse-off liquid gel formulas that act to reduce dark spots, smooth skin, and reveal a brighter complexion. The main difference between the two is the ingredients. L’Oreal sadly failed with this formula in my opinion. It has many acids: Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Mandelic Acid, and Salicylic Acid. It even has Niacinamide and Sodium Hydroxide. Sounds promising right?

How do you use the L’Oreal Paris Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel? Apply the gel on a clean, dry face and leave it on for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes is up simply wash it up? What are the benefits of the acids included in the formula?

Lactic acid treats hyperpigmentation and age spots and addresses a dull and uneven complexion. Unlike other acids, Lactic Acid has a milder formula. This is also formulated with Mandelic Acid. Mandelic Acid is also a more gentle exfoliating acid. It acts to loosen dead, dull skin to reveal the more healthy skin beneath it. Unlike other acids, Mandelic Acid is a bit slower to penetrate the skin’s outer layer which makes it more gentle. Glycolic Acid is the big boy in this formula. It acts to exfoliate skin rapidly to reveal brighter, smoother skin.

L’Oreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel Ingredients:
Aqua/Water, Alcohol Denat., Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Gluconolactone, Propanediol, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Silica, Salicylic Acid, Mica, Mandelic Acid, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, Ethyl Menthane Carboxamide, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Niacinamide, Xanthan Gum, Parfum/Fragrance, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, CI 19140/Yellow 5, CI 42090/Blue 1, Disodium Phosphate, Polysorbate 60, Sodium Phosphate (F.I.L. Z70043468/1).

This formula sounds fantastic to say the least and according to L’Oreal your skin will look brighter and smoother within two weeks by using it four times per a weeknight. That seems excessive but Bliss’s BlissPro Liquid Exfoliant is recommended for daily use. I like to use acids very carefully and likely use this once a week. That being said, I won’t be using it at all. Why? Because the second ingredient in the formula is alcohol. It comes as no great surprise as 90% of L’Oreal’s skincare unfortunately contain alcohol but it is disappointing having a great formula overall that contains not only alcohol but also, fragrance. The alcohol in this can potentially break down collagen and dry skin.

I have a feeling my social media feeds will start filling up with reviews on the L’Oreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel very soon. I’m sure they’ll all be incredibly positive and how great this is and how life-changing it is for your skin but user beware. Remember to do your research before you indulge. I thought this sounded great until I read the ingredients and saw the alcohol. That was a big nope for me.

How about you? Willing to try the new L’Oreal Bright Reveal Dark Spot Exfoliant Peel?

That alcohol thing is why I’ve steered clear of L’oreal skincare for a long, long time. They do that because it’s cheap, compared to good ingredients, and people think it works because it makes your skin tight, which is actually not good.
