Lime Crime Makeup Discontinued As the Brand Transitions to Hair

Lime Crime makeup is being discontinued and the brand is transitioning to solely hair with products like Unicorn Hair remaining as all color cosmetics are phased out. As you may know Lime Crime was founded and launched by Doe Deere in 2008. At the time it was rather edgy brand due to it’s bold and colorful offerings in the makeup world. As you may know Lime Crime was riddled with controversy with Christine from Temptalia as involved in some issues with the company several years ago where they weren’t exactly happy with her negative review of one of their products. Later on news came out that several bloggers were threatened with legal action against for criticism of the brand and/or products.

However, in 2018, Lime Crime was purchased by Tengram Capital Partners and they aimed to develop it as a conventional and commercially acceptable brand. Doe Deere stepped down as the chief executive officer and later completely departed from the brand. They never quite got to a point where they were super viral. Maybe it was past drama or maybe it was that inbetween phase of youTube being popular and Instagram slowing creeping in to take over and sadly, by the time Tiktok got a leg in Lime Crime had fallen way off the map making it too late to grab that viral moment on a popular platform like Tiktok.

As of now it’s still carried at ulta.com but as of the new year if not sooner I’m sure the items will go on sale as the Lime Crime Website is already having a blow out sale.

As we head into 2025 I’m sure they’ll be news about other brands closing their doors. It hasn’t been an easy time in the beauty world (or anywhere else in the world for that matter).

Will you miss Lime Crime?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I am thoroughly devastated over this like I am a longtime supporter of the brand and just am upset

I’m so sorry! It sucks when our fav brands are gone especially when we have staples from them. Have you checked out indie brands like Oden’s eye? Maybe you can find a fun replacement?

I miss her and the blog greatly. Pre-eminent in her field and a 3 palette SG collab. Just remember that dogs>make up. Dogs>people, too. I’ve been reading their blogs since they were GIRLS-or maybe pups. Best in the space.

I won’t miss them but I do miss Christine. You and her were my favorite go-tos. She popped up recently, saying she was super happy with her rescue work.

aw thanks Rina! Christine is doing great! I spoke to her today actually! She’s def very content and happy! That’s what I wish for her! She’s worked tirelessly on her blog for many years she deserves the rest 😀 Hopefully, she comes back one day but I don’t think she will and that’s ok as she has some very cool interests now outside of beauty! I’ll pass on you miss her! Thank you for sticking with me <3! I appreciate it so much!

I was in a livejournal group with Temptalia and Xenia/Doe whatever, Shrinkle.
I really miss Temptalia, but I’m also really glad she’s happy and she deserves the rest and break.

I am sad to see their products discontinued, The Velvetines were a really good long wearing liquid lipstick and there were a lot of really pretty and unique colors! Also the Diamond Crushers are gorgeous and fun! They made a nice lip liner, too! Thankfully I can still find some of the products on poshmark and ebay, better grab them fast though, before the sellers start charging 4 times the original price like they do with discontinued Too Faced products, lol! I bet I could make a killing of I just made dupes of all the popular discontinued makeup products that people miss, like Pink Leopard
