This Is My Bias If He’s Wearing Red I’m Wearing Red

Wet n Wild Cherry Frost Silk Finish Lipstick6

Dude… I just realized inflation finally came for Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Cherry Frost. It’s not $1 anymore. The GASP I let out—$1.69!!! 😭

I mean… still basically the price of day-old chips, but as your designated lipstick snob, I was genuinely shook when I first tried this years ago and actually loved the formula. Don’t even sit there and pretend you don’t have at least one lipstick in your stash that cost you an arm, a leg, and a kidney. I know you. I know all of you.

Guerlain, Dior, Chanel… maybe you even treated yourself to a Rouge Louboutin Velvet Matte for $100+. Only the makeup gods can judge spending $50+ on lipstick while refusing to pay shipping on literally anything else in life. Be serious.

I think it was around 2015 when they repackaged the Silk Finish line, and honestly… nothing has changed. Including the most annoying part: it still doesn’t swivel down. And listen—I’m willing to admit I can’t chew gum and walk at the same time. Replacing the cap without taking a chunk out of a lipstick that won’t twist down? That’s a personal struggle. But hey… those are the sacrifices you make for a lipstick under two bucks, babe.

I actually had a tiny nub of this hiding in my stash, but then my bias started wearing red and suddenly I was like, I NEED TO WEAR RED.

Which meant:
– red Nike Valentine’s Day sneakers ✔️
– red sweater ✔️
– enough red lipsticks to summon the spirit of Marilyn Monroe ✔️

But tell me I’m not wrong—my bias looks insane in red. Ju… bro… you look GOOD in red. Muse approved. If you know, you know. The OGs get it.

Okay, fine—I won’t blame Junior completely. It was also February, and I was fully in my pink-and-red-everything era. And can we talk about when Timothée Chalamet wore that custom blood-red Haider Ackermann look?? Diet Prada reminded me recently and I got that same rush all over again. Because I’m sorry… they’re right. Timothée lost his fashion groove.

Timothée, come back to us. The fashion world needs you. I need you. I need that red carpet moment again.

Anyway—back to the lipstick.

Formulas (and prices) have definitely changed over the years, but Cherry Frost? She’s still that girl. The texture is soft, lightweight, slightly slippery in the best way—super comfortable and surprisingly hydrating, with really solid color payoff.

And the shade? A stunning cherry red that somehow works both warm and cool depending on your skin tone.

So yeah, a lot in the makeup world has changed—but it’s kind of nice knowing Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick is still doing exactly what it’s always done.

Is this one of your favorite reds? If not… what is? Put me on 👀💄✨

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. This is why I missed your emails/posts! You’re so real – and funny. Yep, I will totally buy something I don’t need just to reach the free shipping threshold.

LOL aw thanks Amy. Goofy maybe not sure about funny 🙂 I appreciate you! Totally won’t buy it if I can’t get that free shipping haha

This post made me smile! And giggle – you are the best Muse! And yes, I’m going to find a drugstore and pick up that beautiful lipstick that still costs less than $2.

The funniest part of your post: “Only the makeup gods can judge spending $50+ on lipstick while refusing to pay shipping on literally anything else in life” THAT had me ROTFL!

Love that Timmy pic too. Thanks for cheering up my Wednesday Muse, and summoning the spirit of Marilyn with your red lipstick!

LOL Lisa! Glad you got a laugh from that. it’s such a me thing to pay a crazy amount of $ for lipstick and proceed to cry about the shipping cost LOL! ME TOOOOOOO swoon! I forgot how good he looked in that suit! Ugh! 😀 Haha Marilyn approved of all the red lipstick usage last month! 😀 have a great day Lisa!

Canadian prices are higher. Looking at around $2-2.50 here.

My go-to red is 99 Pirate from Chanel. A blue-red that is universally flattering. I managed to get the gold Rouge Allure case this year with the two lipsticks. Did get lat year’s – was one of the handful of folks in my city to get one. Usual story of limited editions and the buyer not getting any stock.

My most expensive lipstick is Sisley’s Rose Punch. Got it for 20% off at their Friends and Family sale. $70 CAD or so. I am lucky that Beauty Boutique has a 20% discount for 55+ and once a month 20% off plus points for everyone. So I tend to stick to Chanel or Dior with occasional ones from other brands.

I have a Pirate in my stash but sadly, doesn’t work on me! I look like a clown in it :-/ But also, take that with a grain of salt as I always feel clown-y in red. I haven’t purchased Chanel in a hot minute and sort of wish and hope they do some new Rouge Allure red or even brown based oranges for Fall 2026. Sort of feeling it for the cooler weather. Rose Punch is stunning. Sisley also had their FF recently with 20% off! Killer deal to stock up on skincare too!
