Wet n Wild Sparke ‘Til Morning ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Wet n Wild recently released three limited edition ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palettes for Holiday 2012. The only one that caught my eye was the Sparkle ‘Til Morning variation as it contained a good deal of nude, natural shades with a small pop of color here and there.
Here’s a look at it!
The ColorIcon Eyeshadow Palettes contain eight shades each for $4.99 and resemble the ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trios in formula and style. The palettes are slim enough to store easily in a simple black compact, they kinda resemble two of the Trio’s glued together.

Each shadow has the imprint of what it is used for, brow bone, lid, crease, and define. Although after a few uses these imprints will disappear however, there are instructions for use in the back of the compact should that happen.
I think the formula deserves a rave and a rant. These are very pigmented with a velvety smooth texture much like the finish you’d get from a Stila Eyeshadow (just a hell of a lot cheaper). They pack an intense finish with full color pay off however, a good primer is required for the best wear since color fades and creases without something solid to adhere too.
The left side of the palette is what I deem the fun side. It has a creamy yellow highlighter, a copper crease shade, a light tan lid color, and a fun aqua for defining. The right side is the more serious natural selection. This side features a pink beige highlighter, a bronze-y copper lid color, a true brown crease shade, and a dark, chocolate shade to define with. I feel like the right side has colors that are easily duped from other palettes like Comfort Zone and a few of the original trios. That’s what takes away from some of the uniqueness that is Sparkle ‘Til Morning and has me questioning whether you absolutely need it.

You have to practice real caution with these palettes as I always feel like things get really frosty and shimmery, really quickly. There’s a good deal of fall out as well during application. I feel like the shadows tend to look over done sometimes since I have a heavier hand. They are quite powdery too and kick up a good deal of shadow when a brush is applied. I tend to migrate toward sponge applicators for application and blend out using a brush. This lessens the fall out and also creates a softer look sans the amount of frost I seem to get when using a brush.
Overall, the palettes are an excellent deal with a nice formula no doubt. However, application takes a little TLC and patience to avoid the shadow looking too overly done. I also feel like the shades in Sparkle ‘Til Morning might be easy to dupe so check your other Wet n Wild Palettes prior to indulging as there may be a repeat or two here.
I located mine at Harmons and paid $4.49.
